„Successful and eventful times“ would be a suitable description for the last couple of months in SHAKRA’s career. „Successful“ because Shakra’s last studio album entered the Swiss longplay-charts on place 4, and eventful because the group changed singer in autumn 2009 and is now rocking with John Prakesh, a Swiss guy who originates in India. Prakesh gave his debut in a big TV-Show („Die grössten Schweizer Hits“) on Swiss Television.
The sparrows do not need to sing it on the roofs, it got about anyway: Hardrock will never die, the hard-rocking sound is more alive than ever. Guns & Roses, Metallica and AC/DC have all released number one records last year, and the critics remained raving.
But also the fans of the Swiss rockers SHAKRA could be delighted with their band in 2009: The Bernese presented their CD„Everest“, which made it right to place 4 in the longplay-charts in it’s first week after the release.
The name „Everest“ was not chosen by hazard, the symbolism is spot on for SHAKRA. The Everest is a huge massif, and climbing on top of it requests some serious efforts. The road that SHAKRA has gone through in the past 10 years has not been easy at all and sometimes, there have been rough times. But Hardrockers are tough guys, who pursue their path with the gloves off. And it paid off! With their first three albums („Shakra“, Moving Force“, „Powerride“) SHAKRA was just an insider’s tip, but the name recognition got on a higher level, at least since the airplay of the power ballad „Love Will find a Way“.
Since then, SHAKRA could further enhance their extent of fame with every following album. What is more, the band has toured no less than 12 countries and has played spectacular shows as the support act of Hardrock- and Metal-Legends like Iron Maiden and Guns n’Roses. The support gig for Axl Rose &Co at the Hallenstadion Zürich is still one of the biggest highlights that SHAKRA has ever experienced.
With „Everest“ the journey continued, .new adventures were to come. With the supremacy of 1000 won Metal-battles, SHAKRA are playing songs which contain bite, soul, romance and pride all at the same time. With this equal supremacy, just a couple of days after former singer Mark Fox definitely left, the band was able to present new frontman John Prakesh, a guy blessed with a wonderful voice. What is more, he is a very nice person. After this Novembers TV-Show performance on Swiss TV, the band is heading back to the rehearsal room to get a new repertoire ready. By the end of February 2010, the band will be ready to shake the floor of the national and international clubs again.
The SHAKRA-train keeps on moving. So be it!
