ShaksterRecords was started on may 1st 2007 by myself (Shakey).The original idea was to make a cd including as many of my m8s bands as possible ,so I could showcase their stuff in L.A ,also give them out at as many of the gigs I go to in London and the southeast. Around the same time I was very honoured to be asked by DAN & JAMES from THE STUNTS if I would like to become manager of the band. This was a big step as I had no experience of managing ,But I excepted on the basic if it never worked out or stopped being fun for me or them id step down with our friendships intact .
So within 3 weeks id gone from a music fan with some good m8s in some bands ,to the manager of a kick arse rock n roll band. At the same time the amount of bands that joined my page was overwhelming so I decided to send out an open invite to other local bands (mainly bands id seen play in or around Chelmsford) as well as my m8s bands & with 2 weeks I had 17 songs & contact who is now a good friend ROB who helped by designing the cd cover also the burning process, Also another good m8 of mine helped design and put up a website along side the MySpace pages.
Im glad to say the cd was ready in time for my trip to L.A and was given out like promised to as many music people as was possible ,With the response being very positive. On my return to the Uk I noticed an advert looking for bands to play at SEABRIGHTS BARN CHELMSFORD as part of their 3 day beer festival. I took my cd and explained I could get a large amount of the bands on the cd to take part & was given the chance to run the music side of the festival. With Robs help again He can up with the flyers & james and dans help with the P.A side ,also a large number of the bands 17 as I remember(not all from the cd )Came and totally rocked seabrights for three days, with yet another good m8 paul taking photos of the whole event(these are already up on the uk & personal pages )but will be up here soon too.)
From the success of not only the cd but also the festival I had articles in both panic mag & edge mag,plus an article on the festival in the Essexchronicle, finally the cd was reviewed on future sounds In the states with THE WHITE GOSPEL,THE STUNTS & TOUCHE BABY all getting personal mentions . In total making the last 5 months without doubt some of the most exciting times of my life.But rather than rest I need to move forward and that is only going to be possible with the continued support of FAMILY, FRIENDS,BANDS & venues GIVING ME A CHANCE LIKE seabrights did (BIG THANKS ian,john,ray & martin) WHO I HOPE ILL BE WORKING WITH AGAIN SOON.THEIR ARE ALSO LOADS OF OTHER VENUES AROUND TOWN ID LOVE TO PUT A NIGHT ON IN ,But only if its done Right ,with the bands get a fair deal (paid in some way,not mugged over!!!),even if it means I dont cash in,Im not in this for the money but THE MUSIC.So if your a venue owner then get in contact ,give me a chance ,TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE ESSEX ROCK AGAIN.
