The Shamrock's building was erected in 1927 by C.V. Waddington a K.G.E. Engineer in what was known as the Junction Township. The building sold in 1933 to a T.C. Geselle, a local airplane designer and bootlegger. There is a picture of T.C. and the bar in 1933!
Sometime between 1933 and 1945 the building was expanded to the current size and was actually split with 1/2 being a pharmacy and the other 1/2 a bar. About 1945 the building sold to Morris McGlynn, who renamed the bar to the SHAMROCK LOUNGE. His daughter-in-law Neoma McGlynn is the current landowner. The current owner of the bar Dave Stough and his wife Nicole got the bar from Dave's Great Grandpa Turner, known as H.W. Turner, who was an early Wichita pioneer that came here about 1895 from Chicago where he operated a hat and cigar store.
A big part of the entertainment is the shuffleboard table. Many hours and emotions are used up in play. Another are the people watching. From suits to hippies, and coeds to bikers, we are a bar for everybody and everyone gets along!
Pool is also popular, with three tables. We have occasional live entertainment and special parties and events throughout the year, the biggest being St. Patty's Day and Tornado Bait, which is held in the spring.
