Say hello to Shane Henry. This 25-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist from Oklahoma City may in fact be the next big thing. Shane began his musical journey starting at the age of 15, after attending an awe-inspiring B.B. King concert. Shane picked up the guitar and began learning chords and shortly thereafter started learning entire albums of artists that he admired, such as the Beatles and Tom Petty. Little did he know, that only a few years later he would be opening for the legendary Mr. King on the B.B. King Festival Tour in 2002.
In 2004 Shane landed himself a Record Deal with Shanachie Records out of New York. With much collaboration from fellow musicians (Jonny Lang, Double Trouble, Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and others in the business, Shane and producer Kevin Bowe created Shane’s first ‘big boy’ album entitled, Deliverance, which was distributed nation-wide. Shane put a band together and they toured the country debuting his new album.
Shane’s musical style has evolved over the years from a heavy blues influenced style to what is now a combination of acoustic/rock/soul/blues/pop. He compares his fresh style with that of John Mayer, Marc Broussard, and James Morrison.
No longer signed with Shanachie, Shane has been doing just fine on his own. Since 2005 he has played and is playing numerous performances all over the country. Some of these shows have been with other musical acts such as David Ryan Harris (guitarist for John Mayer), Tony Lucca, Ernie Halter, and others at LA hot spots like The Key Club, The Hotel Café, and Genghis Cohen.
In 2006 Shane decided to delve into the world of recording. He began working on a new project out of his home studio. Shane released his self-produced The Love EP in December 2007, which includes 5 outstanding original songs.
In 2007 Shane signed an Artist Development Deal with two of the industry’s pros: Jeff Silbar (songwriter of “The Wind Beneath My Wings”, made popular by Bette Midler, and the theme song of the hit TV series My Name Is Earl) and Bruce Sugar (producer/friend of Ringo Starr, Mark Hudson, and Ozzy Osbourne). This hardworking and creative team is currently working on new material (writing and recording). Shane was fortunate to have the Bissonette brothers (Gregg and Matt) back him up on these new cuts.
Where will he go next? You’ll have to wait and see. Shane Henry. Good stuff.
