About Shane Hines and the Trance
Check out what people are saying about The Glory Journal!

"Naming their EP The Glory Journal may seem brash, but Hines & Co. spill over with energy and exuberance that affirm accuracy in advertising. " Performing Songwriter

"(Shane Hines and the Trance) specializes in tuneful rock." The Washington Post

“Way Up” and “The Broken Breaking Down” showcase the off beat melodies and Hine’s rangy vocals. “We Can Never Be,” with its building melody that might be the best track the band has written to date. Never afraid to step outside the lines, The Glory Journal is no exception for Shane Hines and the Trance who now have another impressive release.” - Alternative Addiction

"Shane Hines and the Trance are record industry revolutionaries." - DC Magazine

“While possibly a new experience to the crowd, their enthusiasm during the song, "Way Up" closely paralleled the excitement and involvement during any of Corey Smith's songs. Typically an unusual pairing, Corey Smith and Shane Hines and the Trance easily merged the mixed crowd of all ages and different lifestyles together.” – East Tennessean on show with Corey Smith

"Hines has a wide range and impressive songwriting abilities. The Glory Journal reveals an up and coming singer/songwriter with plenty of promise." - The Baltimore Sun

"Deeply personal, introspective and blatantly honest....substantive, touching, well-crafted set of tracks. A must listen." -On Tap Magazine

...a panel of judges that included Fergie, Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir and music connoisseur Matt Pinfield named "Way Up" a finalist for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Tuneraker.com compares Shane Hines to Roger Daultry. “The Glory Journal” is full of timeless rock music that sidesteps all fashions Shane Hines sounds like he’s equally at home in an intimate club setting or on a stadium stage…Hines could become a surprise ticket on the live circuit. One for audiences starved of good rock music.” - Tuneraker.com

“The melodies and choruses are catchy, but even more importantly the lyrics are well written, thought provoking. It’s a balanced mix of upbeat rock anthems and slower, more melodic ballads. Hines’ voice is clean and original.” - Stereosubversion

"This is an incredible story and shows dedication and passion. This band has triumphed. Impressive." - EatSleepBreatheMusic

"It’s a mature, haunting album that highlights the highs and lows of a modern life, with insightful lyrics and a pure sound that ricochets effortlessly from the British rock to southern blues before transitioning to the haunting odes of a ballad." - Loudoun Independent

Shane Hines and The Trance get introspective and have deposited rocking minerals in The Glory Journal. The CD collects styles of music from all over, very rare today. Hines lets the listener follow the beautiful image. What is even more impressive is his intonation. He sends his voice soaring. This band is unique, hot. - UMBC Retriever

Band bio:

Blending aggressive arrangements with hook-filled melodies, SHANE HINES AND THE TRANCE have found a way to get inside listeners' heads -- for good. Laced with elements of British rock, The Glory Journal is an album that surprises, sometimes shocks, and moves you to new places.

Songs like "Way Up" and "We Can Never Be" have you singing every word and clenching your fist while wondering how the band got so close to your own little world. Impassioned wrath with metaphorical and lyrical nakedness are unveiled with "What a Beautiful Day". You're envelopedin exquisite torment that gives way with searing honesty, and a brave insistence of freedom from the past. All the while your head will bob, and you'll crave the driving sound that's enmeshed with a voice thats as compelling as it is addicting.

Shane Hines (lead vocals, lead guitar, song writer) and Brian "Mr. Thumbs" Keating (bass, vocals) met while touring with other bands, gelled and have masterfully created The Glory Journal, which was recorded entirely through online donations from fans and supporters. The Glory Journal is already gaining momentum. "Way Up" was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and online blogs such as The Daily Vault and Top 40-Charts have been saluting the SHANE HINES AND THE TRANCES successful excursion.

With a resume that reads like any of your favorite major label breakout bands, D.C. area-based SHANE HINES AND THE TRANCE are moving at a pace that will undoubtedly land them on your iPod before your best friend can call to tell you they heard of the band first.

Shane! It was SO awesome seeing you at Harbourfest yesterday!!! You sounded amazing, although I felt a bit ashamed sometimes when I didn't know all the words to your newer stuff...I promise it won't be 2+ years before I see you the next time...that's pretty ridiculous if I do say so myself! By the way, I was so psyched when you played "Begin Again" in the set. It's one of my favourites to hear played live. So, happy times! I am SO glad things worked out where I was able to jet over to Norfolk at the spur of the moment and enjoy your performance. Stay in touch! Much love, Sarah
