Check out the band backstage at The Bedford in London:
Lots happening around here... Recording at Abbey Road Studios in London, becoming Gibson Guitar artists, several music placements on The Hills and The Real World, amazing shows in LA at The Viper Room and Hard Rock Cafe, regular play on 94.7 The Globe, a big Washington Area Music Award in, Independent Music award nominations....and those are just the highlights. Thanks to all for the support....can't do it without you!
Sometimes the songs that hit us best are the ones that we don't even realize we are listening to. It is strange how that can happen.
Stumbling into an unknown venue, pacing through our nightly rituals, driving in our car. A voice is heard that seems to be sharing time with us rather than demanding our attention. While there is no secret to how we hear these songs, there does seem to be a new friend in the playlist and his name is Shane Hines.
Grabbing the attention of MTV, Shane's song "My Hope Is" closed the final episode of The Real World Key West by softly suggesting the words "I think I'm feeling fine / I'm better / Alive". While it may seem easy to adopt the idea that there is another way out, Shane has crafted albums of songs suggesting just the opposite.
Recognizing the harmony found in personal relationships, the "I'm a mess, you're a mess, together we can be a bigger mess" philosophy that Shane so delicately touches upon has won over more than just mainstream TV viewers. Industry super-site AlternativeAddiction.Com gave Shane's latest album "Zoe" 4.5 stars, while the Independent Music Awards has recognized the album as a finalist for best Pop Rock of 2007. Shane also received top honors at the Texas Songwriters Cruise songwriting contest with the sentimental ballad "Last Letter" winning best Pop Rock song and the upbeat "Joy Said" winning best Alternative Rock Song.
Furthermore, "Joy Said" also brought home the Grand Prize for Best Song in all Genres establishing Shane as the top recipient with 3 of the 6 awards.
While touring to support the success of the recorded material, Shane Hines helped put together "and the Trance" featuring the Bearce on drums and Mr. Thumbs on bass. Officially hitting the East Coast as Shane Hines and the Trance, the band played everywhere from Eddie's Attic in Atlanta to the Mercury Lounge in New York City. An acoustic version of the band also made their way onto the nationally syndicated television show "the Daily Buzz" (on the former WB network) and could also be heard on national radio as the studio band for "the Mitch Albom show".
Based out of Northern Virginia the band has sold out top listening venues such as Jammin Java and IOTA while also supporting national acts at the prestigious 930 club and Birchmere. Shane Hines and the Trance also hit the festival circuit in the summer entertaining crowds of thousands at Celebrate Fairfax, Loudoun Summer Music Fest, Alexandria Red Cross Benefit, Tarara Winery's Sounds of Summer Series, and Hampton, VA's Bay Days Event.
And, the band has shown no signs of slowing down.
Adding to the critical acclaim of "zoe", the Washington Area Music Association has nominated the album for 6 awards including Best Pop/Rock Vocalist and "My Hope Is" as Best Song Overall. On an international level, XM/World Space station UPOP has invited Shane Hines and the Trance to broadcast live from Abbey Road Studios in February making them the only unsigned artist to slyly drop a melodic hook in your ear on your way to work.
