Shane Kirsch - saxophonist/composer/producer/teacher. Shane has a BFA in Jazz Studies from Purchase College, Purchase, NY and an MAT in music education from Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.
Shane has been called upon to enhance the performances of several popular groups/artists such as: George Clinton and members of P-Funk, Spearhead, Perfect Thyroid (ska/funk/ punk/fusion), Belizbeha (acid jazz/funk/hip hop), Fool's Progress (Capricorn Records), Pee Wee Ellis Jr's "Blue Food" (funk/soul), The Deadbeats (Grateful Dead repertoire), The Duke Ellington Centennial All Star Band.
Some of Shane's bands have shared the bill with artists including Tower of Power, B-52's, Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Fishbone, Toots and the Maytals, Goo Goo Dolls, Joan Osborne, Marcy Playground, Third Eye Blind, Dishwalla, Reel Big Fish, Cake, The Toasters, The Urge, The Flys, Pilfers, Bim Scala Bim, Angry Salad, Chucklehead, Judy Collins. He has practiced his diverse musical styles under such auspices as Chris Parker (Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer), Steve Marcus (Buddy Rich Band), Jon Faddis.
Shane has recorded for Shanachie Records (Joe Ferry-Producer), Mercury Records, appears on Disney's national release "Meet the Deedles" soundtrack (Joe Ferry-Producer), Orange Factory Records, Kult Records, Gwate Records, Baby Monster Records, and Skunkjam Records. He's been an on air jock for radio station 92.7 WKOJ (Middletown) and WPDH (Poughkeepsie), and performed live on the latter as well as on New York University Radio, WDST (Woodstock), and WRRV (Middletown.)
Kirsch has been featured at Walt Disney World's Pleasure Island (1998), A Day at the Garden Festival in Bethel, NY (1998), The Montreal Jazz Festival (1997), The Clearwater Festival (1998), The Grassroots Festival (1995-1998), and The United Nations. He has also performed in venues such as NYC's CBGB's, Irving Plaza, The Knitting Factory, and Wetlands; Boston's House of Blues, The Middle East, Paradise Theater, and Steven Tyler's Mama Kin; The Crawgator (New Orleans), Showplace Theater (Buffalo), Woodstock's Tinker Street Caf..nd Joyous Lake.
Shane is fluent in many music-editing programs including ProTools (Digidesign), Acid Pro 3.0 (Sonic Foundry), Reason (Propellerhead). He has also assistant engineered at The Loft Studios, Bronxville, NY and The Clubhouse, Rhinebeck, NY.
Shane is currently a full-time member of Soñando (latin, salsa, merengue), which was voted best local band in 2001 and 2002 by Hudson Valley Magazine, and of Dog on Fleas (kids music for adults).
