Sounds Like
A very eclectic assortment of music. If I hear it, then I write it. Whatever it may be.
I am a multi-instrumentalist from Dutchtown, Louisiana. I began playing trombone in the fifth grade at Parkview Baptist School. Honestly, I did not enjoy playing in the band at that time and did not practice the instrument. There was a time near the end of my sixth grade year when I told my parents I wanted to quit band. Thank God (for real) that they encouraged me to try just one more year. Some things changed and I started to enjoy music more, and I started to practice more. Ever since that time, I have not looked back. Thanks to the trombone, I was given scholarships to attend Louisiana State University to study music.
Through the years, I have had quite a battle in my own mind with the question, "What do I do with music?" I have always thought that I could do many things, but I certainly could not do all of them at the same time. Should I try to do mainstream rock or pop? Should I continue with intense practice on the trombone and become a symphonic musician? Should I forget all of those things and simply be a church musician? The questions made it difficult to simply choose SOMETHING and do it. However....I no longer am willing to let more time slip away while waiting for a sign or a contact or anything. I have decided that I simply want to enjoy playing music PERIOD. Whatever fashion that may be. I do not have to be the next MTV star/progressive rock virtuoso/national worship leader to feel as though I have done a good thing and enjoyed it.
I have written many different kinds of music. I prefer to call my music "eclectic" because it truly draws on many influences. I cannot understand calling it "rock" or something of the same nature. I have written songs that consist of rock, blues, metal, reggae, electronica, soundtrack/movie score, video game soundtrack, fusion, worship music, jazz, hardcore, new wave, and more. I simply enjoy many different musical genres and refuse to tie myself into writing in only one of them so I can have mainstream success or acceptance from musicians.
When you listen to my music, be prepared to hear all of my influences. I am very excited to think what I may be recording from now and onward. I hope you can listen to it and find something you can enjoy as well.
