"Awesome," "Riveting," "Talented," "Spectacular," "Moving," and "Unbelievable". These are just some of the words used to describe nineteen-year-old Shanica Knowles' incredible performances. With a voice that's compared to Jewel, Norah Jones, and Sarah Mclachlan, Shanica can easily be called a prodigy for her talent for writing lyrics and music with her guitar which belies her young age. Practically performing on stage her whole life, Shanica began her career in country music and easily transitioned to alternative. She has since performed at The House of Blues, the Universal City Walk, and on "America's Most Talented Kids," "It's Showtime at the Apollo," and "Ed McMahon's Next Big Star Show." Shanica is also very busy in the acting world. She was one of the stars on Disney's "Sing-Along Bowl-A-Thon", she has a supporting role in a movie on MTV called "Super Sweet 16", a co-starring role on the new Disney Channel original movie "Jump In!", and was in the "Jump In!" Instruction DVD. She has also hosted a Disney promo, "Between the Ropes", and has a recurring guest star role on the number 1 hit Disney T.V. show, Hannah Montana" as the mean girl 'Amber Addison.' Shanica continues to be inspired by an array of very talented musicians and has written more than forty songs. After many performances, Shanica usually has to embarrassingly tell her legion of fans that no CD is ready as of yet. With this raw talent and her love for music, we will soon be hearing a lot more from this talented honor student. -
