MARCIN RUMINSKI -
A founder member and leader of the band.
He finished the General Secondary School of Fine Arts in Olsztyn.
Instruments: low whistle, highland bagpipes, uillean pipes, melodeon,
thin whistle, bombarde, mandolin. Marcin also sings.
His composing and arranging are influenced by ethnic music
from all over the world, mainly by Celtic music. MARIA RUMINSKA -
Graduate of The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice,
Jazz Department (composing and arranging).
A founder member and leader of MaryGoRound, session and concert vocalist.
She has been working together with Olgierd Walicki since 2005 in two projects
- Helmucik and Kaszebe.
Her first guest performance with Shannon took place at Woodstock Festival in 2006. In Shannon she plays the keyboards and sings.
She joined the band in February 2007 (“Psychofolk” album). PAWEL PIORKOWSKI -
Seventeen years ago Pawel; started taking lessons in bass guitar from Piotr Wolinski
- a well-known musician from Olsztyn.
Today he plays the bass guitar in Shannon.
A graduate of the Institute of Political Sciences
(The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn).
A well-known musician of the rock scene in Olsztyn,
Pawel; has been playing with such bands as Los Vatikan Eros, Hormony
(winning many awards at important rock festivals in Poland). MARCIN DRABIK -
Marcin Drabik has been playing the violin for 16 years.
He is studying at The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice,
at Jazz Department.
A founder member of a rock group Gladius Noctis,
a member of Wiosenna Orkiestra Warszawskiej Jesieni,
a founder member of a jazzrock group WydziViolki,
a musician of a shanty group Mordewind, acoustic DNA (Pawel; Leszoski’s band),
Craic and many other projects.
He also occupies himself with composing, creating music for TV, radio programmes and films.
Marcin tries to perform different genres – Irish music, bluegrass, jazz
(both traditional and modern), rock and electronic music as well.
He joined Shannon at the beginning of 2007 (“Psychofolk” album). ROMAN SLEFARSKI -
Drummer, born in Moragu.
He gained his musical education all over Poland, from Olsztyn, Warsaw
(where he lives now), to Katowice.
Musically versatile. Romek plays punk rock (Kuska Brothers), ska reggae (Trawnik),
jazz (Jerzy Malek, Mateusz Smoczynski, Aga Zaryan and many others)
as well as World music and Celtic music.
He joined Shannon at the beginning of 2007 and participated in the recording session
of the new album - “Psychofolk”.

Shannon band was born in early 1994. They have so far recorded five albums,
one soundtrack and also composed some music for an Irish dance show.
Shannon perform in about a hundred concerts every year mainly in europe.
Over the years they have played in many festivals the most recent being:
Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia 2007) ;
Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia 2005) ;
Woodstock (Poland 2006)
Celtica 2005 (Italy) ;
Folk Fiesta (Poland).
Shannon have also taken part in celebrations of the Interceltique Festival du Lorient in Britany (France) as well as often performing in Denmark and Germany.
Shannon on occasion have also played with other famous musicians, one of them being Polish jazz violinist - Michal Urbaniak.
Thanks to a mix of traditional sounds and modern composition,
they offer a great sound.
The appreciation of Shannons music can be seen through its appeal to a wide audience from the hardcore Irish music lover through to the novice.
The music Shannon performs will delight all, not only the audience seeking Irish sounds and you will be left endeared to the band through
the energy and passion with which they play their music.
