"Shannon Lyon...twangy troubadour!"
New York Post (USA)
"Meticulously crafted songs that rely largely on his talent for words and melody...untainted and pure."
Billboard (USA)
"Music that more than once reminds of Townes van Zandt and breathes the atmosphere of the past." - PLATO.NL (HOLLAND)
"Shannon Lyon is a kind of troubadour that tells about love, loneliness and the wandering existence, in the tradition of Townes van Zandt." - STORM (HOLLAND)
"The moment that Lyon entered the stage it was clear that we were about to encounter an emotive set of intimate songs. He demands the attention of the audience as the room filled with the soft sounds of the soul."

I was born & raised in Canada. Southern Ontario to be exact. Sarah Hallman calls it The Banana Belt. I've been on tour since 1990 and have performed in many beautiful countries around the world.
Over the years I've had the honour of performing with many great artists including Lucinda Williams, Jay Farrar(Son Volt), Feist, Hawksley Workman, Bruce Cockburn, Gurf Morlix, Fred Eaglesmith, Richard Buckner, Ray Lamontagne, Blue Rodeo and even The Troggs (you remember Wild Thing!!).
My recordings have been released in 10 different countries worldwide.
I've lived in Australia, Holland, Germany and Spain.
I lived in my camper van with my dearly departed and once loyal companion Pawnee Girl for 3 years. (we followed the sun.)
We slept in many curious corners of America and Canada in those days. Including the Republican River which traces the Nebraska-Kansas border where the great Sioux Indian warrior Crazy Horse was born and bravely battled.
My latest CD (EL SOL) was released in Europe & Canada in May of 2008.
It was my 10th album.
In August of 2008 I recorded an albums worth of Townes Van Zandt songs on Leons Farm in Holland. I'm hoping that album will see the light of day in 2009. It's a real rock'n roll affair. I re-wrote half the songs to fit into a groove. The album is tentatively called 'Sorrow and Solitude'.
Currently I'm cutting tracks with my Berlin band, Alex, Kojla and Christian. All new songs that I've written over the past 12 months while living here in Berlin.
cheers. Sly
