Shannon Marshall is a professional musician based in Brisbane, Australia.
He is renowned in the Jazz and Funk communities of Brisbane as a unique Soul/Jazz vocalist and the trumpet/flugelhorn player of choice.
Shannon is currently performing and recording with his own Soul/Jazz Quartet – ‘The Twenty Buck Dessert’. Since releasing they’re debut album in 2007, the quartet have already been invited to perform at many major music festivals including The Brisbane Festival’s prestigious Spiegeltent in 2008 headlining the ‘Jazz on a Sunday Series’, where Shannon was featured with a full page photo on the cover of the Courier Mail’s Entertainment guide. Performances at the Valley Jazz Festival in 2007 & 2009, Greenfest 2008 and the Broadbeach ‘Blends of Jazz’ festival 2008/09.
Currently residing at Sofitel Brisbane’s Cuvee Lounge, the group has also performed at such prestigious events as The Australian of the Year awards ceremony at The Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane; the Queenslander of the Year Awards ceremony at Parliament House; the Rugby League World Cup at Suncorp Stadium; as well as multiple performances at live venues such as the iconic Skyroom in the Q1 Tower on the Gold Coast; Brisbane’s lavish new venue Cloudland; the Queensland Performing Arts complex; Family – Queensland’s premier nightclub; The Press Club; and The Brisbane Jazz Club.
Shannon and his band have also been making corporate appearances throughout Queensland at reputable venues including the Hyatt Coolum, Gianni’s Portside and Brisbane city, Rydges Southbank, Hope Island Resort and Brisbane cricket ground - the Gabba.
When not leading his own band, Shannon can be found performing and recording as a member of World music legends Afro Dizzi Act, who are currently releasing they’re new album “Peace. Love and Unity” and are embarking on a national tour including performances at The Brisbane Festival, Parklife, The Australian World Music Expo (Melbourne), The Kite Festival (Coolum) and the Woodford Folk Festival. Shannon is also a long term member of The West End Composers Collective – a ten-piece collective of some of Australia’s finest improvising musicians and composers who have released two studio albums to critical acclaim, and have recently completed a successful national tour of Australia including performances at Bennett’s Lane (melbourne) and SIMA (sydney).
