About me:

Swagatam! Welcome...

SHARANYA / The Maa Batakali Cultural Mission, Inc. is a federally-recognized Devi Mandir (Goddess Temple) and non-profit organization whose work is spiritual service in and for the world. We are dedicated to the bridging of East and West through (r)evolutionary, embodied spirituality, sadhana (spiritual practice), and worship of the Goddess in Her myriad forms. We especially honor Kali Maa, our beloved Dark Mother, as a change agent for our times, recognizing that She resides both inside and outside everyday awareness...helping to transform and heal individuals, communities, and the planet.

At SHARANYA, we honor the potential of the human heart and the force of spirituality as catalysts for change throughout all spheres of life. Ours is an ecofeminist vision that validates the sacred union, a hieros unios of Sacred Male and Sacred Female in the dance of life and consciousness, a dance that ultimately transcends limited notions and constructions of gender. Our work is toward the creation of peace in all realms. In our community, we practice and share devotion to Devi -- the Mother Worship of our spiritual ancestors in India -- with all who are ready to surrender their egos, open their hearts, free their minds, and liberate their spirits through Her grace.

    Mission
SHARANYA is a Sanctuary promoting healing, truth, and transformation through integration of embodied worship and devotion. We empower seeds of change on individual, collective, and planetary levels towards healing, respect, responsibility, and the fullest awareness of an interconnected, interrelated cosmic reality.

    Vision
Our vision is of a harmonious global community where our inherent divinity--the essence of male and female--is welcomed, balanced, sustained, honored, and celebrated as quintessential to creation. Through open hearts and a deep commitment, we create a compassionate space to engage spirituality that brings Devi, Goddess, home to each one of us.

    The Sha'can tradition
Sha'can is an authentic lineage tradition given to us through blood-right and initiatory blessing. With origins in contemporary Witchcraft (commonly referred to as Wicca) and the Shakta Tantra (the mystical worship of the Divine Mother), we weave together the paths of both the Shakta Tantrick and the Witch. At its core, Sha'can expands Tantrick Mother Worship and sanctifies earth-based embodied spirituality by bringing Kali Devi to life with relevance for our circumstances today on Western shores. In our tradition, we celebrate the commonalities of thought and practice that bring the marginal to center. From here, we hold that everything is possible.
