Shark! Shark! are a band from Los Angeles, CA and consists of four individually talented musicians: Hana Hawker, Max Ratzky, Elvis Kuehn, and Max Kuehn. The band began to take shape in 2007, when Hana and Max met through a mutual friend. Both of them were playing shows with the bands they were in at the time, and their mutual friend (Bridget) convinced each of them to attend the others show. After being impressed by their respective musical talents and mutual love for good music, Hana and Max became friends and started writing music together. For most of 2007, they worked on songs together and even played a show under the moniker " HRH & MHR", their initials.
When 2008 came around, Hana and Max decided they needed a full band in order to get momentum going and start playing real shows. Max suggested his good friend Elvis who he knew from school, and Elvis agreed to sign on playing bass. It was now Hana, Max, and Elvis. In need of a drummer, Elvis recommended his younger brother Max. When the four of them played together for the first time, it clicked musically. The four of them struggled to find a name for quite a while, but eventually came up with Shark! Shark!, a reference to an old low budget horror film that Hana and Max had watched one night.
The Red Wolf EP was recorded in May 2008 and consists of the tracks found on this page. The band have written over 10 songs in addition to the ones heard on this site, but never came around to recording them seeing as how the band decided to split in April 2009 after a legendary gig at the Unknown Theatre. Today, Hana is studying music at Columbia College in Chicago, Both Max R. and Max K. are studying music at Santa Monica College, and Elvis is studying music at Long Beach State. The site is still up because the music lives on and we are all very proud of the work done in Shark! Shark! We hope you enjoy the tunes, and who knows what the future has in store.
Good luck at the Unknown! I probably will still be in bed after having my teeth pulled but I'm glad you guys will be out there having a good time. Peace
thank you so much, we really appreciate everything you said. anyway, in regards to your offer about an opening spot, we'll definitely keep you in mind.
haha, max. well, here's my advice. come to oct. 18th because today i'm sad, and that can't be a good thing as far as performing is concerned. a month from now, mingle like the adult you are. it's not a HOUSE party but a STUDIO party. even less intimidating...
sorry to hear about summerfire disbanding, but you know, now you're off to new and better things. not that summerfire was bad, it just may not have been as promising as what you are doing now.
i do wish you the very best, and if you and bridget do make another group, let me know - you all know that you have my support.
