Influences
The Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Impressionist masters. Spanish classical and tango music. Most of the early blues and jazz artists, and running up the decades, most of the classical rockers, 70s folk and funk artists, 80s 'new wave', late 80s and early 90s old school hip hop and breakdance music. Many current artists and local favorites. Anything that floats my boat. Kevin Gilbert, R.I.P., your music is most special.
Me in the studio! On drums is Mike Weakley. Betty Widerski is on octave viola, but can't be heard because she was in the isolation booth. This wasn't the final take (this one's a bit overcaffeinated :) but the final mixed version will be posted soon!

I started playing piano at age 6 and pretty much have played ever since. Sometmes a few months or years would go by when I didn't touch a piano, but those times always pained me and gnawed at my soul. Early on I was affected by the drama and dark beauty of Beethoven, the incredible sweetness and also sometimes light, sometimes very dark sounds of Chopin, Schubert, Debussy, Bach and many others, including some contemporary artists. I only started composing later in life, and since I started, my has been turned inside out. In a beautiful way, that is. My thought about composing is that I don't often feel as if I'm actually "creating" music. Rather I feel I'm finding some beautiful sounds that already exist and I'm just capturing them and organizing them the way I want them to be.

Funny - there seems to be a market for this string arrangement stuff... some wedding booker just contacted me trying to buy current pop song string arrangements. Maybe you should redo Toxic for him (like either of us have time!)
Yes, The DTS is all Sam, all the time. I like the challenge: I'll put my thinking cap on and see what Milling Gown song is to enjoy the Duct Tape Solution treatment...
Im hoping the grim reaper will understand
Theres just too much depending on this one lone man
I got a lot of debts that I still have to pay
When he tells me to go Ill simply say No Way

I just heard Pericopine - what a fantastic piece. Like a landscape - both geographical and mental. A place. I´ll come back - Hopefully for more new musical escapades.
