|
| Member Since | 6/21/2006 | | Band Website | sharonduggan.co.uk | | Band Members | Ray Jessup and I are in a jazz/swing duo - we're just called Sharon Duggan and Ray Jessup. We sing great standards, as well as some more contemporary cool jazz numbers.
The Cranlettes are me, Emma Bamford, Sam Craig-Wood, Eleanore Duggan, Helen Evans and Emily Niemann. We're a six part female vocal harmony group and sing soft rock, pop, r'n'b, soul - a bit of lots of stuff. | | Influences | Well of course Jeff Buckley and Kate Bush. I also love Ravel, Faure's songs, Cantaloube's "Songs of the Auvergne", ELO, Debussy, Puccini, Satie, Pink Floyd, "Kashmir" by Led Zep, The Blue Nile especially "Downtown Nights". I also love some of the Pointer Sisters stuff, Christina Aguilera, early Mariah Carey stuff, especially her "Music Box" album. I like Joni Mitchell, Miriam Stockley, Paul Weller's "You do something to me" and Laura Michelle Kelly's version is great too. Carole King, Bobby Gentry's "Ode to Billy Joe", Chaka Khan..........I could go on and on really. Oh "Wires" by Athlete and "Crazy" by Gnarls Barclay. | | Sounds Like |

| About Sharon Duggan |
|
I've been a full-time singer and singing teacher for some years now. On the singing side, I work in a jazz/swing duo with the lovely Ray Jessup and also in a six-part female vocal harmony group called The Cranlettes - so hi to Emma, Ellie, Emily, Helen and Sam! I also sing solo and do session work, as well as singing more folk influenced repertoire with my daughter, Eleanore Duggan. My daughter is also a singer/songwriter and instrumental composer - you can see her page at www.myspace.com/eleanoreduggan.
I'm just about to start work on an album of folk influenced music - some traditional unaccompanied stuff as well as more "folky" accompanied music. I don't really like to be pinned down to one genre of music, hence the different bits and pieces I do. I'm as comfortable singing rock as r'n'b and classical music - I'm classically trained originally.
On the teaching side, I run lots of courses and workshops, as well as teaching individuals, so it's probably best to have a look at my website at www.sharonduggan.co.uk
