We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colours....but they all exist very nicely in the same box.
Influences
Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Dolores Keane, Jethro Tull, Joan Baez, Dick Gaughan, Nic Jones, Irish traditional, loads more ...

Been compared to all sorts of people - depends what I am singing! Never ever drop the Yorkshire accent though - I have a bit of a thing about it I'm afraid!
Sharon Fountain is an accomplished singer and songwriter who hails from the county of South Yorkshire. She performs her own and others contemporary songs and also traditional songs and accompanies herself on guitar.
She has performed at several festivals over the years including Whitby (several times). She is also an accomplished harmony singer, having assisted on several other performers.. albums and has appeared on local radio.
Her voice has been described as a ..cross between Marianne Faithfull and Mary Black.. and also as a ..smoky bell jar...
She has released three albums to date:
This Could Be... (cassette only)
Razorblade Earring.. (cassette only)
Songs Almost Sung (CD and cassette)
and has twice won the Keith Marsden trophy for best singer/songwriter at the Saltburn folk festival.
Her long awaited 4th album with the working title ..Port of Refuge.. has been ongoing since Spring 2001 but work commitments have delayed any further progress. Not long to go to retirement!
Cute Myspace Layouts
just thought I'd drop by to say that I have been listening to 'Songs Almost Sung' over these past few days. Some of the tracks there just blew me away again.
Glad you got up to Whitby for a bit and was MADE UP to see you for a quick chat! Thinking about you as you accomplish the flit - and you may even get a song out of it!
Was great to chat last night and I hope you had a great visit with your lass. We're off to Sardinia for a mad 2 days tomorrow. These cheap flights are so tempting. Where does the half term go?
I've given up my job as a hat-check girl at school discos and have been off gigging. I'm now back from my travels and have been trying to work through my issues in my blog.

Hi Sharon! Had a dream the other night that you came to Tennessee to visit and we sat on my porch and played and sang and laughed and talked...!
(Just thought I'd tell you) Hope all is well!

Thanks for the add, Sharon, especially in "top friends"! I'm listening right now to "Rearing Our Jessie" and I'm literally WEEPING like a little girl. This song is so beautiful and I love your voice and lyrics. I have two teenage daughters.
Hi Sharon, great to hear from you. Julie's right - you are sounding wonderful. I still have 'Songs almost Sung' great album of yours. Keep up the super music lass, Sarah xx
Great to hear from you and welcome to myspace. You're still sounding great (of course!) so I've put you in my top friends so more people can find you and your songs... And I love the penguin!
