About me: Hi. Welcome to my MySpace. Here’s a few things about me.
I’ve been the Federal Member of Parliament representing Newcastle since 2001. Before I became an MP I was a Principal in the Hunter region, so the beliefs and activities of young people have always inspired me to strive for a better world. Their healthy mixture of idealism, honesty, challenge and criticism is much needed in politics.
Living in Newcastle makes you believe in the power of communities. If you’re a Novocastrian, you just have to take part! So during my life here, I’ve always found myself involved in community causes – from grass roots organizations to representing the community on the Honeysuckle Development Corporation.
Newcastle is a great place to live. We have the best beaches and the best sporting players and fans in Australia, as well as fabulously talented musicians and performers.
As Newcastle’s Member of Parliament, I believe in fighting for things that make our community strong: a fair go in the workplace, a good education, access to health services, social justice and human rights so we can all live together with dignity.
Currently I’m on a mission to help make the Hunter region a centre of excellence in sustainable energy – the Silicon Valley of Australia, so we can tackle together the challenge of responding to climate change.
There is great synergy between Kevin Rudd’s vision and Newcastle’s future. A future where we invest in education, ensure fairness in the workplace and tackle the moral problems of this generation - climate change and poverty.
If you are a member of the Newcastle community – or you are interested in what’s going on – I hope this page helps us communicate.

Hi Sharon, I would like to Congratulate Kevin Rudd and Labor for winning the 2007 Election by a landslide. After Mike Kelly won Eden Manaro I knew we would would win by that sort of margin. Best wishes to all the Hunter Valey based labor MP'S. Jason
One week to go Sharon - let it be the last week in Howard's political life!!!! Hope all is going well for you.... Kevin has been outstanding over the past 2 weeks... it surely has to happen this time... 11 years of unethical and immoral Liberal / National Coalition Govt - it has to end.

Thanks for the comment! Reverb Magazine is Newcastle (and Australia's) premier entertainment, lifestyle and culture magazine. We're a free, monthly publication and we distribute 20,000 copies across Newcastle, The Central Coast and the Hunter Valley (Maitland etc). It's available in pubs, clubs, cafes, clothes shops, music shops etc etc. The September issue is out next week - we have a very exclusive interview with Daniel Johns of Silverchair. It's sure to be a popular issue! I highly recommend that you give it a read :)
hey sharon, yeah thanx for the add, i'm little worried about the interest rate rise that might happen if labour wins government. Last time they won the interest rates went throught the roof didn't they? So if i'm gunna buy a house soon i want to know before i vote
