Shannon "Shattastar" Branch was born April 22nd, 1983 in Cleveland, OH. Raised by his grandparents, he attended John Dewey Elementary school where he excelled in art and music. Seeing that her grandson had an uncanny gift for drawing, his grandmother enrolled him into Karamu House, a school of arts in Cleveland at the age of 8. There as well as at his elemetary school is where he sharpened his craft in drawing, painting, sculpting, and writing.

By the time he turned 14 everyone in his neighborhood knew him by his artistic and creative abilities in art. He won awards and certificates at his school as a young child in a variety of subjects ranging from spelling, creative writing, to art shows. During his childhood years growing up, he moved a lot, causing him to be around all types of different people who had different cultures and lifestyles. He made friends of different races and with different backgrounds. His family is very music oriented, as a baby, his stepfather who was a dj would play hip-hop, and r&b, his grandmother who was a background singer and also close friend of the late great Johnnie Taylor, would take him on the road with her while she sung and performed blues and gospel music. He also learned to play the drums at a young age while attending his grandmother's church. His father, who is also deep into music, later came back in his life and exposed him to jazz, funk, soul, and rock and roll. By the time he was 16 he was into all elements of music and cultures.

At the age of 17 Shatta started developing a knack for writing poetry, producing, and finding talented mc's in the city who he felt had talent and true potential. He also fell in love with the art of journalism. He had a comic book, and hip-hop magazine fetish. Over the years he collected thousands of comics and magazines, ultimately fueling his desire to become a writer. By 2007 he was totally dedicated to pursuing a career as a music producer and writer. Disgusted by the lack of overall originality and creativity in the hip-hop music scene, Shatta was determined to change that....forever. For years he sat back and studied the music business like a scientist, now in 2009 he's ready to make a impact in hip-hop as one of the most original, creative, and respected producers in the game.
