Aerosmith, Linkin Park, Jimi Hendrix, Papa Roach, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Bob Seger, Alter Bridge, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, P.O.D, Boston, Finger Eleven, Foo Fighters, and The Killers.
Drew Scott and his father David had been creating screaming guitar riffs and drum beats in their basement since around 1999 when Drew got his first guitar. The father and son duo took these impromptu jams and turned them into songs. These songs were taken into the studio with Drew, David, and a host of extremely talented musicians to create Drew Scott's solo project entitled "Legends In The Making".
The solo project was a step in the right direction for Drew, but he still wanted his own band and had a desire to play with musicians his own age. He acquired the talents of Gabe Maeck on bass guitar and they spent months in Drew's basement working out the riffs and grooves that would become many of Shatter Proof's songs. They still however missed one very important piece of the puzzle, a drummer. Stephen Chiricosta turned out to be exactly the kind of drummer they were looking for.
The extremely varied background of all the players in Shatter Proof is what gives them their very familiar yet extremely different sound. Drew Scott was born with rock in his blood thanks to original drummer of Aerosmith father, David "Pudge" Scott. Gabe Maeck although deeply into his newly found Shatter Proof bass sound has a passion for both classical and jazz music, and Stephen Chiricosta despite playing rock beats better than many other drummers is also a highly trained jazz drummer.
If you take all these things in a boiling pot and throw a pinch of jazz, a dab of classical, 2 teaspoons of blues, and pardon our French but a shit load of rock. There is Shatter Proof in a nutshell.
