Born May 30, 1963, Colleen Applegate grew up in a rural county near Farmington, Minnesota. As a teenager, Colleen rebelled from her parents, Phil and Karen, by running away with a man they disapproved of. She even attempted suicide with sleeping pills. She ran away to California where she did photo shoots for Penthouse and Hustler. After her parents learned of their daughter's magazine appearances, they flew out to the coast to stop her. She took off and they didn't see her for months. In the fall of 1982, Colleen posed for photographer Suze Randall. Adult film director Bobby Hollander cast her as "Shauna Grant" in his movies. Over the next year, Shauna appeared in 30 movies and had sex with 37 men on film. Innocent looking Shauna became a popular porn star - certainly one of the most beautiful. She also caught Herpes and had an abortion. While she earned more than $100,000, she spent most of it on cocaine. "It was difficult to get erect while screwing Shauna. It was like fucking the dead. Finally in 1983, she quit porn and opened a leather boutique in Palm Springs, primarily funded by her alleged drug-dealing boyfriend Jake Ehrlich. Her body was found lying on a bed in her house in Palm Springs, California. Her death was ruled a suicide, but her parents believe she was murdered. Three years to the month that Colleen Applegate left her hometown, she returned in a casket to be buried. Phil and Karen sold the movie rights to their daughter's life to a television network who produced the film, "Shattered Innocence." They used the money to purchase Colleen a tombstone.
