BEATIN' FACES!! I LOVE THE ART OF MAKEUP. I also enjoy reading, traveling, theater, trying new cuisines that burst on my palette!!
Music
I love ALL music if it's good music.
Movies
Drama, action, comedy, romantic, horror, oldies...I like them all.
Television
My favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Project Runway and the now-cancelled Girlfriends. Shame on the networks for taking it off the air! UMPH!
Books
I love to read!!! I have my big brother Byron to thank for introducing me to two of my favorite authors: J. California Cooper. Her characters are real; their stories are our stories, and Wally Lamb. "She's Come Undone'' made me laugh; "I Know This Much is True'' made me cry.
Heroes
My parents. They've been married for over 35 years, and I truly admire their COMMITMENT, not just their involvement; their respect for each other and how they raised me and my brothers: To fear God, honor your parents, and not spare the rod!
The video below is from the 2008 Grammy Salute to Gospel Music at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Washington DC. I did the makeup for model, producer and red carpet host Jodie Johnson.

Shauné Hayes is a professional makeup artist in the DC/MD/VA metropolitan area who loves painting faces. With over six years experience in the industry, her approach to makeup combines simplicity, elegance and creativity for a look that is clean and beautiful. “Makeup is always fun and creative for me. Even if the look is minimal, it’s never a chore,” she says.
Shauné discovered her passion for makeup artistry simply through a favor for a friend: She did her makeup for a hair show. From there it was no turning back for this former news and layout editor for the Washington Post.
She started working for Lancôme Cosmetics where she sharpened her skills as a roving freelance makeup artist. She also dedicated years of education and hands-on training to mastering makeup, studying in Toronto, New York and D.C. to learn from some of the best in the business. Shauné is a firm believer that great makeup begins with great skin, and her experience as a skin care consultant ensures each client achieves her beauty potential. “If the skin is amazing, everything else will fall into place.” But with the various brushes, palettes and products she uses to paint a face, she insists her best tool “is my imagination. If I can think it or dream it, then I can do it.”
Shauné has worked on a number of personalities including Krishnar Lewis, Richard Smallwood, Cornell West, Roland Martin, Miss Maryland Teen 2008, numerous fashion models and brides. Her most recent handiwork can be seen in the MTV 2009 Rock Your Fashion editorial campaign, the Miss Black USA 2009 National photo shoot and Red Dress campaign, the 2008 Grammy Salute to Gospel, Global Woman magazine, and Jet magazine to name a few. She’s also a key makeup artist for the Armorettes, the dance team for Washington’s new professional indoor football team, DC Armor.
Shauné’s passion for makeup artistry doesn’t stop when her brushes are packed away. This wife and mother of one, also volunteers for the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good Feel Better” program, teaching beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment. Her mother is a breast cancer survivor, “so to use my love of makeup artistry in this way is tremendously rewarding,” she says.
Shauné enjoys every minute of her work and is so blessed to have discovered her true passion. “I used to say I stumbled into makeup by doing a favor for a friend. But now I realize that whatever you are destined to do will find you. And makeup artistry found me.”
Shades of Shauné Makeup Artistry is a proud recipient of the 2009 Bride's Choice Award. This award recognizes vendors from the WeddingWire Network who demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility.

Chelsea (12 years old) performs Beethoven and Chopin at a church. Different musicians got together to share each others talents. It’s normally called a shed. Chelsea thought it was comical to hear other musicians reacting to her performance. Check it out.
