| General | Over the past four years I've been getting back to my roots, working with mostly top 40 style genres including Rock, Alternative, Reggae and Hip Hop. The ideal band or artist I would like to produce is one that is willing to incorporate many genres. I believe the future of popular music is fusion. I have a saying, “95% of every genre is crap, so why not take the cream of several genres to create a new sound".

About me:
From Cortes Island BC, growing up in a small community, music became the main focus in my life at a very young age. I started off playing the drums when I was six. Took lessons for several years and also learned African and Middle Eastern hand drumming. Picked up the bass for a few years as well. At twelve I started a punk rock band called “The Skateboard 4”, I played Drums. Around the age of 14 I started to grow an interest in electronic music. So I bought some turntables. Throughout high school throwing shows and DJing was my main interest. By graduation I was getting tired of playing other peoples music, I wanted to learn more about music production. I decided to move to Vancouver and go to Art School (Ai The Art Institute of Vancouver). There I studied Analogue/Digital Recording, ProTools/Logic/Reason..., Music Business, Music Theory, Chart Reading, Chart Arranging, Improvisational Keyboarding, Composing for Picture, Music in Games and Post Production. I graduated with my Masters. After graduating I interned at Greenhouse Studios and then went on working there in the capacity of an Engineer/Producer. Check out my credit list. Since then I have also started my own production company, opened a new studio and have worked out of several top studios here in Vancouver. Howells Music Productions facilitates many services including Producing, Engineering, Artist Development, Programming and Digital Editing. Currently I just finished KINGS WITHOUT's Debut CD and they are now on there cross Canada summer tour. CHECK THEM OUT! Contact me if you want to record, I'm now looking for summer projects.
