About me: I made my live debut in 1977 as a bass guitarist in Jack Nelson's Band, although before that I had played drums in a couple of on-off bands that never got as far as gigging. I only learned to play bass because I knew there was a regular spot in Jack's band for someone who could be relied on to turn up.
Over the years I picked up many instruments and studied them. Being a fan of Roy Wood I wanted to emulate his multi-instrumental abilities; after all, playing the same instrument all night every night can be pretty dull. I therefore served in many bands honing my skills as a guitarist, drummer, mandolin player and singer.
Spent most of the 1990's drumming and trying to manage the chaos that was Opposite Sides. I left them because I found my girlfriend was more important and I wanted to get married. So I did.
During this period I formed and fronted The Thoroughly Decent Chaps and we did a stack of stuff including opening for Glenn Tilbrook (formerly of Squeeze), and the Australian singer/songwriter, Mick Thomas, the former front man of Weddings, Parties, Anything.
I developed a one-man multi-instrumental show on and off over a number of years and have taken it to many places over the world. I have played all over the UK and in more places than I care to remember on mainland Europe (mostly ski resorts).
In the USA, I have played in Memphis, Nashville, Montana, Denver, New York City and Austin Texas.
In 2007 I toured my one-man multi-instrumental show for the entire year around the UK, in addition to a very succesful two week tour during that summer in the Irish Republic.
I am currently playing private functions in the UK and devising and developing ideas for a tour, possibly in late 2009/ early 2010, which will include dates in Europe and the USA.
