SHE is SOUL - SHE is INDIGENOUS - SHE is SHAUNTAII
Singer/Songwriter SHAUNTAII, an Australian, Aboriginal woman, follows a proud tradition as the daughter of Aboriginal Boxing Champion, Wally Carr. She began singing at a very young age, wrote her first song at 10 years and throughout high school performed at various functions, solo and with groups.
After studying Contemporary Music at EORA Centre in 1998, SHAUNTAII was casted in the multi-award-winning musical, Jimmy Chi’s ‘Corrugation Road’. The musical toured for six months throughout Australia and upon her return she continued in theatre by playing a lead role in a community production called ‘Follow Your Dream’.
SHAUNTAII’s passion lies in songwriting and inspiring people through her music. ‘It is my desire to bring hope truth and strength through my voice, lyrics and music and that it inspires the listener to be all they can be’.
SHAUNTAII has the ability to cross genres from Gospel, R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk & Opera. She has delighted audiences with her strong stage presence & uplifiting lyrics within the Indigenous, Fijian, Pacific Islander, Local Community & Christian Communities and has been asked to sing interstate at annual festivals, conferences and special events.
SHAUNTAII is the artist that represents the community organisation ‘Soul4GIVE’, where she and her husband work closely with the Indigneous community in NSW and NT.
She is a regular on Channel 9’s ‘Wesley Mission - Rise & Shine ’ and her music from her self titled debut EP ‘SHAUNTAII’, that was launched in 2006, is played often on Koori Radio 93.7FM and Rhema 105.1 FM Wide Bay. She was featured as the cover story in ‘SASS Magazine’, was featured in the ‘Koori Mail’ & had a double page spread in ‘VIBE Magazine’. Nominated for Most Promising New Talent in Music at the 2007 Deadly Awards, was in the Top 60 for Australian Idol 2009 and recently appeared on ABC Message Stick’s documentary on the first Indigneous Opera ‘Pecan Summer’, where she is part of the cast that will hold a world premier in Melbourne 2010.

You'll be happy to know that after getting to be at 3am (late gig), I was woken up by Will putting the TV on real loud at 6am. When I went out there to turn it down, who was there all made up and well lit, singing away on that screen?! Damn you and your lovely voice!! I watched 30 seconds then stumbled back to bed.
