"Peppered with dreamy pedal steel and atmospheric
dulcimer tones, a song like 'Shelter' sneaks up on you,
grabbing your attention as it grows to a superb climax.
His individual and practically note perfect delivery echoes
the command that marked the work of Jeff Buckley." ROCK 'N" REEL
"If you are one of life's 'fortuitous people' you will hear an
album which has a profound effect on your life. 'The Great
Departure' is such a CD. Personally, I have never listened
to an album of songs which have touched me so
emotionally or spiritually." TYKES NEWS
"This couldn't be more universal if it was written by Jesus
himself, a legend in the waiting... 'The Great Departure' is a
record that makes me wish i was heartbroken just so it
could help me through... and that's its genius. No self
respecting record collection can afford to be without it." LIVEWIRE ALBUM OF THE YEAR

Shaun T Hunter releases his new album The Great Departure on Local Nobody Records;
The follow up to the critically acclaimed Flying Not Falling (Borders album of the month Feb '05), The Great Departure is primarily a dark, elegant and brooding collection and is a leaner record than its predecessor due to the subtle recreation of a live performance aided by much use of world percussion. This resulted in a thick, raw and vibrant concept.
"The album tends to groove a little more whilst still staying true to its acoustic spine.“
Along with the first record it was acknowledged that these records were sometimes euphoric, sometimes haunting but that Shaun's work was nothing short of captivating.
Both albums first manifested and became a calling in Hunter's mind in the spring of 2004 when Flying Not Falling came to light, later to be described as;
"... a record so mesmerisingly beautiful and so richly seeped in genuine emotion, yet one that still manages to sound uplifting and positive, is nothing short of miraculous. A sublimely beautiful album, a profoundly moving experience. Timeless..."
The new album continues in the vein of being an unashamedly soul searching spiritual record; what is evident is that this is a writer whose darkest moments still resonate with hope, love and clarity.
The overwhelming success of glowing reviews along with Shaun's particular brand of live performance has resulted in tying up a 3 album distribution deal with Voiceprint www.voiceprint.co.uk; podcasts, along with tracks featured from the album, will be available on the Voiceprint site prior to the releases.
Last year Shaun won best acoustic roots artist of the year at the Independent Leeds music awards; nominations were received from a wide range of music writers, promoters, journalists and musicians, www.theindependentleedsmusicawards.co.uk.
Shaun's film and TV work has included writing the score and providing tracks for the film Bad Day; winner of best film at the Reel HeART International Film Festival 2005 in Toronto www.reelheart.com.
