Special Announcement – Reunion
After a break of five years, Shave the Monkey has decided to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Concert dates:
- 30th November,Hitchin Folk Club , Sun Inn, Hitchin, Hertfordshire
- 13th December, Bridgwater Arts Centre, Bridgwater, Somerset
Shave is delighted to say that all members of the band – both past and present – will be performing.
“We were constantly being approached by fans asking when the band was getting back together,” said Fran (violin, cello, harp, vocals) “and with the 20th anniversary looming – it seemed like the right time.”
Shave the Monkey played together for fifteen years – but all good things must come to an end, so at the end of 2003, they decided to call it a day.
Shave the Monkey's influences came from many sources, including traditional, rock, early and classical music, as was evident in its unique style. Their command of over 20 instruments which spanned ten centuries, coupled with superbly crafted songs made what can only be called an electric performance.
Shave performed at many of Europe’s top festivals including Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Dranouter Festival in Belgium and Zwolle Folk Festival in Holland. When not performing at festivals the band was playing up and down the UK in folk clubs and art centres. Shave the Monkey also made several appearances on both radio and television.
During the fifteen years that Shave the Monkey was together the band recorded four albums at Woodworm Studios.
