Drawing from the swampy roots of his native North Alabama, John Shaw drenches his myriad musical ventures with greasy slide, a hint of country twang, and a heaping double dose of southern soul and deep blues. From his four year tenure with Nashville indie fixtures the Westfolk, to his two year stint on the road with his own group, to his newest projects including Nashville's up and coming Delta Saints, John is said to even play music in his sleep. "I like to stay busy", he says. In demand, but always looking for one more musical morsel to pile on his plate, John gets plenty of excitement out of hopping around to different genres and musical situations. Since moving to Nashville in August 2006, and even before, John has seen every side of the road. From the private jet one off weekend dates to the long haul in a cramped station wagon and back again, he likes it all. As long as a stage awaits, he is ready to roll. John is a member of The Delta Saints and Westfolk, and regularly plays with Tyler Flowers, Goose Gossett, Scott Ewing, and many others. He has shared the stage with Rudy and Regi Wooten, worked with songwriting greats such as Todd Snider, and appeared countless albums and demos from Nashville's finest up and coming artists.
John is available for sessions and live performance on acoustic, electric lead and rhythm, slide, and BGV's.
