~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Shawna Baca is an award winning filmmaker who has directed/produced several films that have garnered recognition at national and international film festivals and showcased around the world.
Among other honors, Shawna was selected for prestigious programs such as the Producers Guild of America Diversity Workshop, the Fox Diversity Writers Program, the NBC Diversity Showcase, and Project Involve's Directors Program
awarded by Film Independent. In 2007 Shawna was the only person of American Latin and Indigenous descent out of 12,000 filmmakers to be selected for Fox's Reality show ON THE LOT by executive producers Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett.
In 2004 she created the American Latin Film Festival sponsored by Nosotros, which was founded by Ricardo Montalban to promote positive images of Latinos in
front and behind the camera.
Her production company, 4 Elements Entertainment was founded in 2005, and specializes in Film and New Media projects that target the nation's growing multicultural audience. She works closely with 4 Elements Production's clients to develop American ethnic, urban and diverse media content. In March of 2008 Shawna was honored by La Opinion newspaper and the City of Los Angeles with a "Mujeres Destacada" award for her contribution to the community in the Arts and Culture sector and she was given the New Media Director Award by the Professional Latinos In Entertainment which was sponsored by Anheuser Busch. On Sept. 5th, 2008 she was honored at the Latina Symposium in Washington D.C. with an award and recognition for being a Latina Entrepreneur. In addition, she was given a scholarship to the prestigious Tuck Executive Education Program at Dartmouth University by Latina Style Magazine.
She was born in East Los Angeles and is of Mexican, Indigenous (Pasqua Yaqui/Apache) and Spanish descent.
