Hello my name is Shawn Council and I was born into a life of music. As a child I dreamt of one day making it big. This was very much inspired by my father who played in local bands himself. When I was five years old I got my first guitar, a 1954 C Martin. It was just a parlor sized guitar that had plenty of "character" marks but it still mean the world to me, and looking back its has always been there with me even today. Growing up we didn't have a lot of money so to have something like that well to this day is still very special.
I really turned to songwritting in my late teens. I came from the whole broken-home thing. Everyone has heard a stroy like that, but I was uprooted a lot and never really settled in. For me the songs were therapy and a place that I went for healing. In a way they keep me sane. I guess in a way music does that for everyone. It is the other universal language, "emotion." we have all at one time or another felt the same things and this is where I draw my inspiration from.

This truth that I pull from is the source of everything that I write. Whether it be happy and up-beat or one that pulls on the fabric of your soul, if my music can touch you, take you somewhere, or make you admit something if only to yourself then it has done its job. In trying to reach people there is no more profound thing than the truth....
I absolutely love being a songwriter and getting to explore the nature of what makes us human. I thank Gad and the people who listen and enjoy the music everyday for allowing me to do what I love. I hope that I will see you all soon.
