SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY has taken the multi-hyphenate to new heights. This singer, songwriter, actor, educator and activist was born in Southern California into indigenous heritage (his father is a Native American of Salish ancestry; his mother, Panamanian of Mayan ancestry), Shawn has embraced his culture, past and present with an eye to the future.
Shawn first came to the public's attention through his acting skills. He has appeared in films as diverse as LAST OF THE MOHICANS to WILD BILL and television productions such as MURDER SHE WROTE and the CBS AFTER SCHOOL SPECIAL MY INDIAN SUMMER. His stage credits include the highly-acclaimed production of GHOST DANCE at Los Angeles's Actors Gang Studio. Shawn has been a member of SAG and AFTRA for over ten years.
SHAWN'S musical ambitions led him to the studio with a collection of songs highlighting the human experience as seen through indigenous eyes. The strength of his music and beauty of his words was enhanced by producer John Avila, the talented bassist/producer of Oingo Boingo.Shawn and John furthered there collaboration by placing FIGHT in a docu/drama about PONCHO GONZALEZ the famed tennis master which aired on SPIKE TV IN sep 2006. Final polishing was added by the skillful mastering techniques of Ron McMaster (Capitol Records). The results were marketed as the limited edition "RUN2U". Tracks "Freedom" and "Libertad" received terrific response and airplay. Due to their popularity, these songs are featured on the new full-length 2008 CD/DVD, SHAWN MICHAEL PERRY & ONLY THE BRAVE.Shawn has opened for and shared the bill with REDBONE...BADLANDS...BILL MILLER...MARY YOUNGBLOOD...KEITH SECOLA...JEFF HEALEY ,THEE RHYTHM KINGS,YAIVA to name a few. Shawn's song FOREVER has consistently been in the top 20 in country,pop and aor formats across the world. P.S. The record label side of Apache Films, Vision Quest Music, will be releasing an 8 song sampler(CD) chosen from some of the music to the BOE film project soundtrack.
The BOE film project is currently in pre-production. A limited production run of 2,500 CD(special cases-autographed) should be available by mid December. We will send out a bulletin once the CD's are available. We ask that you let your fan base know about the sample, once it is available, and ask them to visit us and help support independent film makers.
