My name is Shay Godwin and I am a professional drummer in Los Angeles. I am influenced by and have great love for many styles of music.
I am fortunate to have played with some great artists and musicians. Recently I have been playing and writing with the Thomas Nicholas Band.
I am playing on all of the songs you can hear on this page, which display a portion of my stylistic range.
If you like the playing you hear and need some drum tracks you can contact me here or you can go to my online drum track website, eDrumSessions.com.
Thats EDRUMSESSIONS.COM.
Recordings I have done include tracks for "J.B. and the Rebellion" (an independent jazz-funk release featuring members of Robert Walter's 20th Congress), Charlotte Martin's "On Your Shore" (RCA), and Arista artist Freeman. I have played on tracks heard in the movie "The Breakup" (Universal), as well as television shows "Summerland" (WB), "Las Vegas" (NBC), and "One Tree Hill" (WB) and others.
For those of you who use the "BFD" premium drum module software (I KNOW there are a lot of you out there!!), all of the brush samples you hear on the expansion package are played by me.
I also did tracks for Caren Manuel's "Eight O'Clock at the Shop", an album featuring some great talent including Al McKay of Earth, Wind, and Fire which is unfortunately currently unavailable due to legal matters.
I did arena tours of the U.S. and Canada with Interscope artist Butterfly Boucher, one opening for Sarah MacLachlan and the other for Barenaked Ladies. With Butterfly I also did television performances including "The Late Late Show" (CBS), The Sharon Osbourne Show, and MTV's "Advance Warning". We also did AOL Sessions Live and a live in-studio performance for KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic", both of which can be found on their respective websites.
Here is a performance I did with Butterfly:
In the past several years I have made a few trips around the globe with Persian singer Siavash Ghomayshi. I have played in England, Germany, Canada, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates with Siavash as well as U.S. cities including of course Los Angeles, where we have played repeated performances at Universal Amphitheatre and the Greek Theatre.
Thanks for stopping by my page. Don't forget to check out eDrumSessions.com. Have a great day!
