Influences
Here's a VERY short list of what we're into:
Ours, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Muse, Jeff Buckley, Failure, U2, Coldplay, Bloc Party, Led Zeppelin, Pinback, Queens of the Stone Age, Sigur Ros, Soundgarden, VAST, etc...
Shea Stratton's music could be described as rock n' roll, but the genre has come to encompass such a diverse sound that it leaves much to be described. Shea's songs incorporate strong and steady drums, guitar lines that range from delicate to fierce and lyrics that paint a variety of age-old pictures: squandered emotions, failed celebrity, political shortcomings, revenge. But it is Shea's vocals that are truly riveting. They range from smooth and deep to an ethereal falsetto, fit for both the raging epics and mournful ballads that punctuate his work.
Shea Stratton's first album entitled, "Love/Hate", was recorded by Producer/Engineer/Musician Thom Flowers (Bad Astronaut, Mad Caddies, The Ataris, Sugarcult) between November 2006 and February 2007. This record is one of the first projects as part of the upstart Pirish Records, an Indie label from the Southern California area.
