The gentle guitar work has become their trade mark and is the binding thread which brings it all together complimenting the other instruments on many of their songs. This CD has been long in the making, and is the better for the wait, and a must add to shelves of any serious collector of modern folk music.' ...... .. .. .. .. ...... .. .. ...... .. .. .. ....13.. .... ....The Collection.. .... .. .. .... .. .. ..  .. .. .. .. ....  .. .... .. .. .. .. .. ..

Reviews SheedyFrost Album: SomethingDefinite Label: Self Released Tracks: 14 Website: http://www.sheedyfrost.co.uk Perhaps more than any other genre, folk music exploits the dynamics of the duo, I can't think of any other genre that has a national award for a duo, but I'm sure someone out there will prove me wrong.(Not a challenge) Two allows you to introduce harmonies, whilst still insisting that the sound retains a sparseness that allows the focus on individual aspects and SheedyFrost are masters of that exploitation, deceptively simple, with a real sense of drama. From the title of the album, "Something Definite", Vincent Sheedy and Paul Frost are out to make a statement. This is an album of screwed/shrewd/skewed observation, words and music delivering their interpretation of people's interaction with people and environment, in the broadest context. They've got a real affiliation with their words to create songs rich in imagery. There is a real dynamic between vocal and backing, twelve string guitar and it's six string cousin. The thing that really gives SheedyFrost their distinctive sound though is the way they make the whole sound so relaxed, almost effortless. It gives you the space to slip into the songs and find that personal connection. As an aside there's a nice family touch to the album, most of the songs are written by SheedyFrost, but there's an addition in terms of the words for "Pumpkin Head", Hannah Frost whilst Matthew Sheedy provides the photography. "Something Definite" is a very human album, it feels like it's part of a community, a town with a very diverse population and lots of stories to be told, a really enjoyable experience. Neil King
