About me:

Sheelagh na Gig is the finest culture shop in the Shannon region. The creation of Mollie Barrow and Liz OShea, Sheelagh na Gig opened in October 2006 and is part of Ireland's first ecovillage.

Sheelagh na Gig specialises in ecobooks, children's books, wooden and ecofriendly toys, world music, jazz, roots, Irish and unusual music. We are a Proper Partner music shop. We feature crafts and art work by local artists such as Emma Barone. We are the exclusive distributor of Mollie Barrow's unique glass jewellery.

Our events programme focuses on literatureand music: we run a writers' series, including children's events, and provide a relaxed Sunday-afternoon space for up-and-coming musicians.

We also serve easily the best coffee, hot chocolate and homemade cake in Ireland. Our creative and organic cakes are baked just a few doors down from us.

Who I'd like to meet:

Everyone! Please stop by. There are two trains to Cloughjordan every day (one on Sunday).

We are 10 minutes from the N7. To get here, get on the N7 and turn at the T-junction in Moneygall. We are 15 minutes from Nenagh and Roscrea, 20 minutes from Birr and 30 minutes from Portumna.

We are also a great place to stop if you are interested in the ecovillage. There is always someone around who can chat with you about it. There aren't any houses yet, but we the infrastructure is complete and quite a lot of ecovillagers are already living in Cloughjordan.
