As the saying goes “They do everything big in Texas”, Houston’s own Shei Atkins certainly personifies that. As one of the industries newest sensations, Shei is blazing new trails. Determined to do music “her way” Atkins has developed a style that has been identified as “Inspirational”. But Shei’s story is not a fairy tale nor is it a nursery rhyme. You know the routine- I was raised in church, fell off; I’m back to do the work of the Lord and now I gotta’ act like I never did anything wrong a day in my life.

No, this Texas native shares her pain, struggles, and triumphs by weaving a tapestry of truth and putting it to music. She pulls no punches and tells no lies which makes her music on life, love and relationships relevant to todays pop culture. Shei operates in transparency- being open and honest about life.

“I felt that my music was meant to reach people deep inside their souls with songs that can relate to everyday life,” explains the multitalented singer. “After some time off, I reconfigured my music to better fit my new way of thinking as well as my new lifestyle.”

With 3 independent albums under her belt, Shei is showing no signs of slowing down. Having worked in the studio with an industry heavy hitter such as Beyonce’ Knowles and opened up for artist such as Mary J. Blige, J Moss, Kirk Franklin, Avant, Tonex, Fred Hammond, not to mention touring in overseas with Kelly Rowland, Shei is no stranger to the stage.

“It’s not enough to just have talent,” Shei says of her new project. “I’m doing something different from what [you] currently hear on the radio. [But I] knew my beats and lyrics still had to come correct in order to reach the masses with the message of hope in everyday situations.”

Shei Atkins is back in the studio and is already hard at work on her long awaited album, tentatively titled “Letting Go,”. Shei describes the album as one that encourages personal growth.

“We as people hold on to so many chains from our past, that we never reach the full potential that God intended for us, I have learned through my trials and tribulations that letting go is the key,” says Shei.
