The original sound maker and musician Andrey Kireyev (known as Shake, Sheik...), started his career back in 70s, somewhere in the Far East. During 80s he was traveling and playing rock music around many cities of Siberia and Ural.
He came to Moscow in early spring 1991 with his brilliant band Klyon (The Maple). He was playing guitar and made his own effects-pedals to sound really awesome and cool. The Maple managed to record one studio album and performed on the 11th of September 1992 in the legendary festival dedicated to Mike Naumenko (fantastic soviet rock n roll star ). His first official release was a cover for Mike , released on LP called "Mike's Songs, released by OAO Russian disc in october 1993. That LP compilation presented also many cult independent stars like Boris Raskolnikov, Ole Lukoe,Vova siniy, Matrosskaya Tishina and Shpinglet.
Andrey also collaborated with experimental psychedelic orchestra Atomic Bisquit Orchestra and Prohibited Sound in Zeleniy Teatr (very special place for the history of independent music in Moscow). Among the members of those jam-rituals the musicians from Aalien Pat Hollman,Joint Committee, F.R.U.I.T.S, Frustrators etc. At the same time he finishes his really powerful solo SONIC BALL. This work sounds like very special post-punk industrial band, but Andrey recorded all instruments alone, playing over 50 guitars in every track. The brand SONIC BALL became his visit card into the world of first experimental avangardists in early 90s. The recording includes famous song "Life is a dream", later re-released by CDLand label in DRUGOZENNOST vol 2 compilation and in "Tretiy Put club promotion CD" 2001. "Life is a dream and everyone must sleep" - Andrey's words from that song. In 1994 Shake becomes the member of such radical hardcore thrash band Zima, founded by cyber-punk lab Species of Fishes, also known under such names as Amirga Mogus, Bivni (The tusks), NOT, Kammennie Gosti, Black Reason. He was also participating in the recording of that famous extreme song "Good Bye America" (Black reason & Zima 1994). That period of work can be found on CD compilation Euphoria 10 (Future Records). In the summer 1994 he joins famous drummer and sound designer Igor Gozmanov to work at the studio equipped with Digidesign "Pro Tools". This collaboration affected on releasing several outstanding CD compilations: "Purple Legion strikes back", "FlyingHigh", Trance Siberia Express 1997, Transplantanz. Those are real monuments of Moscow psychedelic and experimental music of the 90s. Andrey worked in many tracks presented on those compilations.
Later on together with Pavel Jagun they started to explore click-n-cut sound ideology (Piezo, FRUITS, Atomic Bisquit Orchestra). In 1995 together with Gunss Hollman they made the second Sonic Ball album, more hypnotic and electronic. He records the legendary Aalien Pat Hollman's performance in St Petersburg december 1994 and helps this famous band to work in the studio. Together with Gosha Ryzhiy (one of the members of alien-infected band from Chelyabinsk, The Brothers in Mind) they recovered and restored a lot of early tapes of this special experimental new wave masters. Finally they released "Albomich" 1999 Purple Legion records. They also recovered Brothers in Mind and performed in Moscow clubs together until the 12th of april 2004.
In july 1996 Andrey helps to build a studio of famous sound designer Nik Artamonov in Modern theatre at Spartakovskaya square in Moscow. There he helps to reach the special underwater sound for Species of Fishes "Trip Trap" album. Later that CD was released by Exotica records . He also supports and helps Airat Narishkin to record his famous "Euroasia" album of songs and ambient. In June 1997 at Videofilm studio he records and mixes an allbum of famous singer from Tuva Sainkho Namtchylak "Time out" released the same year by AnySai records.
It was another project called Iney, recorded by Yuri Orlov and Brothers in Mind at Samokatnaya 4 home studio. Later on Igor Kolyadniy (member of the Species of Fishes) gathered all the sessions into the album called "Antarctina" (Electroshock Records). That CD is a very fine mixture of ambient minimalism and cold electro music. The release got some really high reviews in European charts.
We did not mention a lot of other important contributions that this great person made for Moscow independent and electronic music, so that it could be really long story-line and list of awards to read. But the thing, is that Shake (Sheikh) is still unknown to the audiences, as during his stay in Moscow he mostly cared for the originality and quality of the sound for many famous figures, staying in shade of their fame.
Recently Andrey moved totally to virtual composers worlds and now organizing a virtual project, trying to master the computer sounds and possibilities.
The idea of project is to have wav-files change-over with other composers and make music inside internet.
So it is the time to open the curtain of obscurity for the true alchemist of sound and lo fi pro-founder Andrey Kireyev.

На студии? Да вообще здорово. На самом деле это первая работа в студии за последние 8 лет. Надеюсь я больше не буду позволять себе столь долгих перерывов. Ну и думаю что 8 лет не прошли даром, все мы повзрослели и ненужная шелуха отвалилась, так что думаю этот альбом будет в разы лучше всех предидущих. В общем то как продвигается работа над записью я буду писать в своём блоге. Если интересно, читай, смотри, ну и да, рад знакомству ;)
