Me, Jesse Laine, Ryan Gassi and Sasha Achtemichuck. In the past the band has included these great musicians too- Michael (Rosie) Rosenthal, Erik Allen, Craig Halliday, Chris Bennett, Ian MacGillivray, Megan Hamilton and David Paoli
A distinctive songwriter, Shelby Lamb is a musician living in Toronto. Her music has been described as folk,
alternative country, and psychedelic, among others. Her voice may remind you of a folk singer from
the 70’s without sounding like anyone in particular .
In 2006, Shelby released her debut album, Suburban Cowboy. The acclaimed EP received continuous play
on CBC, campus and community radio nationwide hitting the top ten on the !earshot charts.
Like the EP, Shelby’s new release, Tudro, features an eclectic instrumentation. Layered with vocal harmony,
trumpet, glockenspiel, slide guitar and con organ, the 12 tracks were recorded in Toronto at Ivy Laine
Studio. Using practically all vintage gear and sticking with natural tones, this album sounds as timeless as
apple pie. From the psychedelic backward guitar on “Roam” to the tongue and cheek lyrics on “I Can’t Be
Normal”, Tudro is infused with texture and honest emotion.
In collaboration with some of Toronto’s finest musicians, the release features Jesse Laine,
(also producer/engineer ), Ryan Gassi of Memory Bank, David Paoli, Ian McGillivray, Megan Hamilton
and Andrew Barker of Bruce Peninsula. Experimenting with a multitude of layers to an odd metre or
stripped down to an acoustic guitar and a foot tap, Tudro is “wicked as hell” - Dennis Ellsworth

Hey Shelby. I just put up some new tracks under the name Broken Folk Transistor. Finally recorded some songs after a year hiatus. Hope all is well. Ryan.
Hi Shelby! I don't know how it happened, but this is the first time I saw your invite posting for the CD release. We haven't been on very much anyhow, but I remember the comments before and after yours. Sorry to have missed it dear girl, but congrats and I'll find out how to get it. We're in the final stages with ours as well.
That was a great set at The Tranzac for the CD release. Traversing folk and country traditions while radiating a singer-songwriter charm. Soul-stirring vocals, breezy guitar playing, and upright bass grace ballads that explore homespun storytelling from a poetic soul. This warm, classic sound, along with a passionate delivery, remains a modern force.

That was a great set at The Silver Dollar. Commanding vocals that compliment an upbeat roots-rock canvas, splashes of poignant lyrics meshed with a warm connection to golden moments of skilled musicianship and songwriting. Sharp, personal, and down-home.
