Singer/songwriter Shelby Lim is an emerging acoustic-rock solo artist out of Brisbane.
Winner of the 2004 Face The Music Singer/Songwriter competition at just 17, Shelby proved she could hold her ground against the older and more experienced performers. From there she proceeded to become a finalist in the 2004 Fretfest Singer/Songwriter competition, the 2004 Busking By The Bay Competition and the 2006 Hot Tunes Songwriting Competition. Shelby has been an avid performer in Youth Week events, distinctively a showcase of young talent at Brisbane’s renowned Suncorp Piazza in 2003.
Armed with an intense passion for love and life, Shelby’s lyrics ring true to those even twice her age. Her development as a songwriter and musician evolved rapidly, resulting in her ability to write poignant lyrics well beyond her age.
Shelby’s EP reveals her versatility as an artist – completely at ease whether delivering her bold lyrics through a unique harshness of her voice (Don’t Rain) through to sweetly crooning through an emotional ballad (Untitled). Whichever way, no doubt, the audience is captivated by the distinctive melodies accompanied by honest, raw and genuine lyrics that live in their hearts long after the show is over. Shelby has featured in television series’ Tattu Tv and Alive in Brisbane. Her EP receives regular airplay on Brisbane Radio Station 4zzz.
Shelby has performed in such Brisbane venues as Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse, Suncorp Piazza (Southbank), The Pavilion, Brunswick St Mall Stage and University of Queensland, as well as earning her place as a popular solo artist on the Brisbane pub and cafe circuit. She has also performed at a number of festivals including the Grass Roots Music Festival, Urban Blues and Roots Festival and 2High Festival.
With a series of live solo and band performances on the horizon, Brisbane is embracing this rare and refreshing young talent with open arms.
A huge rally for Queer Rights is happening this weekend in the city centre.
This is your chance to be part of a massive event in which the LGBTIQ community and our supporters will call on our government to end discrimination against queer people in this country.
Through this public rally we are demanding:
- same-sex marriage and civil unions now! - Rudd remove all 102 pieces of legislation discriminating against queers! - an end to homophobia in schools!

I love love LOVE Save Your Demons and really dig a Courtney Love kinda girl. I know my opinion doesn't count... or maybe since you 1000 friends, it counts about .1% but anyway, I vote for more hard hitting rock masterpieces like that one... then I want you to come to the states , scream your lungs out and body surf around the crowd like Courtney Love. The drug abuse part is up to you.

Hi there. It'd be great to see you at our Neil Young Tribute night. It'll be mad fun. It's a once off opportunity to see some great bands do some sweet Neil Young covers.. and even better, it's a fundraiser to help homeless young people of Brisbane to gain an education. What more reason do you need. Cheers
