Jesus, photography, Muddy Eyes, playing sports, working out, playing guitar, finding new music, listening to music, dancin' my butt off, coffee houses, the beach, engineering (at times), reading (when I have time), making people laugh...yeah, that's enough for now...
So my mom was in labor with me for 19 hours...apparently my head was too big...thus I got stuck in the cool little canal that most of us try to come through early on in life...as if I hadn't tormented my mom enough, during the entire process, I left a little gift behind that caused her to get sick and have to stay in the hospital for an extra week...I'll give you a guess as to what it twas...it's a 4 lett3r word that begins and ends with the letter P...yep...so that's how I entered this world...I just hope that when I leave this world, I will have left a positive impression on those (un)fortunate enough to cross paths with me...
I guess that's as good an intro about me as I can come up with at 2am...let us see...the "About Me" section seems pretty self explanatory...but it's not all that easy to do...hmmm, well try this on for size and see if it smells good:
I came into this world naked and with a baby-fro (no pun intended…ok, maybe a little one)…turns out that would be the most hair that has ever covered my head...I lived in Powder Springs, GA until the age of 11 (1995) where upon I moved to good 'ooole Pawldin' Countay!!! Ever since I can remember I've been a dancin fool (there's some very early video footage of a young Sheldon tearing up the dance floor at a family member's wedding reception)...I've also been heavily involved in sports since I was 5 (mostly soccer until high school)...once I got to high school, football became my life (literally)...I was also a Boy Scout for about 10 years (I quit once I got to high school...because football became my life, obviously, DIBANG GIBINIBA)...
I've pretty much been the "token black guy" for much of my life...even when that term hadn't come into existence yet...It's never been a problem for me (ok, I take that back...sometimes it has been)...it's funny (to me) that I'm a non-stereotypical black guy and yet a stereotypical token black guy...oh well, everyone is a stereotype in some way or another...I blame global warming (seems everyone else is, so why can't I?)...
I grew up in a traditional southern black baptist church (say that 5 times slow)...but always found myself dreading Sunday morning...I would do ANYTHING to either get out of going to church all together or making my family redonkulously late (though it doesn't really make that big of a difference if you're 30 minutes late to a 3 hr service)...I hated church...which is to say that I greatly disliked going to church...I was saved at the age of 8, but the church in general gradually lost it's appeal to me by the time I got to high school...that is, until I started hanging out with this quiet little blonde(brunette) girl named Brittany during my senior year...she told me about this church called West Ridge and invited me to go with her one Sunday (except, I managed to put off the actual Sunday service until after I had gone to a couple of "Home Team" meetings and a couple of "Xtreme"s...wow, that seems forever ago)...I still thought all church services were boring(pointless), which was why I was avoiding going to an actual Sunday service at West Ridge...but I finally made it to one...and it changed my life forever...
I could keep going on and on, but I just realized how long this thing has gotten (I tend to get a little long-winded if you don't know me and haven't read the "Best Road Trip of the Semester" series)...so in a nutshell: Greatly improved/increased my walk with God-->got accepted to Georgia Tech (GO JACKETS!)-->Joined SigEp-->Had a pretty crazy 1st two years of college-->Drifted away for a while-->Brittany helped bring me back (she's always been one of my best friends)-->Renewed my walk-->Had some crazy "relationships" along the way that I learned a lot from-->Now I can see graduation and the "real world" on the horizon and it's a bit scary, to tell you the truth...but I'm not too worried...If I can't handle it, He definitely can...but that's me in a nutshell (ok, more like a mortar shell)...congratulations on being bored enough to read all of this...if you ever want to hear more (as if you weren't bored enough) I'm pretty easy to get a hold of...good talk, see ya out there
omg i bombed at test today too! what a small world... wow today was especially boring. The group's presentation lasted THE ENTIRE CLASS. Man it was rough
Just a preview of what you'll get if you make it out to our show at Smith's Olde Bar this Thursday. You can come over to our space and get tickets ahead if you want to:
This weekend, we are going to Cowboys. Before you make your decision, read the entire post...
We have a friend from Scotland who is in America for the first time. He wants to check out some line-dancing...because it is both very American and very Southern.
We are asking all of our friends to make an effort to come out! If you like to people watch, but don't dance--this is your spot. If you've always wanted to give line-dancing a try, but needed a crowd to "disappear in" while you tried, here is your chance. Bottom line: we'll have a fun group...there will be great line dancers, mediocre dancers who have been roped in by their signifigant others, people who like to drink beer and listen to country music, and some people who have never been before at all.
So, put it on your calendar. The plan is to meet at Cowboys at 10. Bring your friends. It will be fun:)
