About Shelley and the Shackles

Singer/songwriter Michelle Hopkins brings a wealth of imagery to her original songs. Her music runs the gamut from country waltz and blues to acoustic ballads and rock, exploring the personal side of life's experiences. Drawing from influences like Lucinda Williams and Neil Young, Michelle has been favorably compared to both Margo Timmins (of Cowboy Junkies) and Bonnie Raitt while maintaining a distinctive style.

Shelley & the Shackles (formerly known as The Michelle Roderick Band) has developed a tight, driving style that supports both polished arrangements and free-form jams. Lead guitarist Lloyd Drust, a renowned artist in his own right, sends his modified Gretsch soaring through electric solos that alternately caress and contort the melody. Martin Poole, a veteran of several local groups, lends an intriguing harmony to the vocals while nailing down the beat on his custom trap kit. Dick Armentrout rounds out the sound with his bass and vocal harmonies.
