Kurtis Harder - guitar || vocals || drums I've been teaching my brother to play for about a year now. Not only is he great moral support but he's also more than willing to play until his fingers bleed. Kurt is the better picker of the two of us and maybe one day my dear younger brother will end up being my lead guitarist. Hey, stranger things have happened. He's also recently bought himself a drum kit and i firmly believe he could be one of the best due to the fact that he's kind of a spaz. in a good way though!
Influences
The Who, The Rolling Stones, Spirit, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, The Doors, CCR, Bob Seger, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds, B.T.O, Loverboy, Trooper, Streetheart, David Bowie...
Honestly there's too many bands out there to name them all. I was raised on Classic Rock and it's still the main genre of music I listen to today. There are so many stories, so many interesting tid bits about music of the Classic Rock time. When Rock 'n Roll was a new thing... people were exploring and pushing boundries. It was such an exciting time.
My only regret is that I wasn't around during such times. To have been a part of Woodstock, to have seen The Who perform on Rolling Stones Circus, The Isle of Wight concert... all these things I wish I could have been a part of. But all I have is the music and if that's all I get out of the deal... I consider myself very lucky indeed.
I have many musical heros like John Lennon, Keith Moon, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and all the other musicians that not only changed music but changed the world, touched our lives and left before their time.
but most importantly, my parents are my biggest heroes.
The Who || Sparks (Woodstock 1969) This clip will never leave my site because I never grow tired of watching the boys give it their all.
David Gilmour || There's No Way Out Of Here I have much <3 for David Gilmour. There is just something about his style that I love. His voice, mixed with guitar, mixed with his band... brilliant. Enjoy as much as I do each time I watch this clip.
I know that it seems I've fallen off the face of the earth but I haven't! It had been a very busy year with getting married, relocating and getting settled but I'm back! And now only that but I'm back with NEW MUSIC!
Last year for Christmas (I know that's ages ago already) I did another album for friends and family. This year I decided to do a folk cover album since my own work is very heavy in folk roots. So do enjoy the new Folk Covers from John Denver to Pink Floyd there's a little something for everyone!
There's also NEW PICTURES! I know, I finally got off my bum and added some recent pictures as well.
New, Original songs are current works in progress and it's my hope that in the next couple months I'll be heading into the studio to work the kinks out of them. Also this spring I hope to hit open mic stages more often. It's really time I got over my stage fright and started my Musical Journey!
I have missed you all but it's great to be back! ENJOY!
Shelley
"Come on you Buggers! Pretend it's Christmas! || Pete Townshend || Isle of Wight 1970 ||
|| PUT A QUARTER IN THE JUKEBOX ||
Country Roads || John Denver This was one of my Grandmother's favorite songs. She used to play it when I was a wee wisp of a thing and would visit her during my summer break from school. She was a country woman at heart so I did this song for her knowing that she was looking down from heaven and smiling.
He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother || The Hollies This one is pretty self explanatory. My younger brother has been my groupie, roadie, jam partner and 1 fan since I started so this song is for him... cause he ain't heavy he's my brother.
Jet Plane || John Denver This song has always been a favorite of mine. The original by Denver, not the covers that have been done over the years. Maybe there's a little country in me after all...
The Weight || The Band You just can't have a folk cover album without adding something by Great Canadians The Band.
On The Turning Away || Pink Floyd Might seem a little odd to have a Pink Floyd song on a Folk Cover album but it just seemed to fit. The acoustic version of this song is one of my favorites that I've done to date. It just seemed to fall into place and came out sounding really good!
|| THE BAND ||
Right now there isn't much of a band. Just me, myself and my guitar. Oh... and anyone else around me who's willing to pick up an instrument and join.
Music has always been a part of my life in one form or another. It's such a big part of my life that not only do I play music for fun but I also have a career as a radio announcer. Some people have TV and movies... I have music.
