~The Dance~
She had wings, but no one could see.
She was filled with the rhythm of being set free.
Content with the size of the stage,
And complete in detail, she moved like a pen on the page.
The motion of her body held everyone's eye.
She had their attention as she reached for the sky.
Like none other, she danced her dance.
Ignoring all problems caused by lost romance.
Speaking one word for all to hear,
She softly whispered "dance" showing no fear.
Following her path laid before her, she didn't hurry.
She laid down her trust and chose not to worry.
This is all she has, a single dance.
She kept in time, as if this were her last chance.
Trapped between two worlds, she put up no fight.
She held her frame, her turns were smooth and tight.
She remembered the song, so she held the beat.
The dance had reached the peak, causing too much heat.
As beads of sweat formed on her glossy skin,
The crowd saw her stumble. She had remembered him.
She put on a smile for all to see.
She thought to herself, how could this be?
The confidence of knowing the dance so well,
Caused her to stumble. She almost fell.
It was time for the concluding leap.
Her pulse was racing, she could hear her heart beat.
The song came to an end so fast.
The chance for her leap had past.
She turned to the judges after the dance.
She said, "There was a mistake. Please, one more chance."
Having a tear in their eye all the while,
The judges gave a tender smile.
They showed sympathy. They gave her the chance.
With a new confidence, she completed the dance.
