I love a lot of different types of music but I have been most influenced by Country and Contempory Christian Music.
I feel that music is an outlet and if you use the right lyrics, you can touch a lot of people.
Shelly Starks was born in Ft. Hood, Texas in 1977. She spent most of her young life in Clovis, New Mexico, a small town near the Texas panhandle. Shelly’s love for country music began as a young girl. From the very beginning stages of singing in the church pew to present day live performances on stage, her passion for music can be seen in everything that she does.
Shelly finds a way to incorporate music into even the simplest things in life. Music is everywhere, in every corner of our collective existence, and Shelly believes that it is so much easier to live every aspect of our lives when music is a part of it.
Starks debuted her first album, “You’re Gonna Fly,” in May 2009. Co-writing this album gave her something to be a part of that was bigger than herself. Writing lyrics and melodies has quickly become her passion and her love for storytelling transcends in her music.
Shelly’s goal to become a well know singer and songwriter is off to a great start! Her friend/fan base of over 11,000 here on myspace and at www.shellystarks.com, and the recent start of her live band, has catapulted her into booking festivals, events & shows where so far she is being welcomed with open arms into the Country music scene.
There are so many people that forget how to dream for one reason or another. But Shelly feels that this dream is not just a dream, but a lifestyle for her and her family. Her drive and determination to be successful in an industry filled with competition and doubt, is an inspiration to people all over the world. Starks knows that with opportunity comes uncertainty, doubt and fear of failing, but she also knows that you can’t hide behind all of that. It is her goal that her music inspires people and that to a small degree, it helps them deal with everyday pain in life. Just one listen to her lyrics and melodies will encourage you to live your life to the fullest.
Shelly now resides in the Tampa Bay area with her husband and daughter.

I also want to remind you of the significance of today. Today is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We must NEVER forget those who have given their lives in our defense. We have never started a fight, but we ALWAYS finish them!!! God bless those who lost their lives 68 years ago today. God bless the survivirs and all of the families. Have a GREAT week. It isn't officially Hump day yet, but I have a busy Wednesday and may not have time in the morning to get my weekly Hump Day comments out. I hope the week has been kind to you so far!?!? If the week isn't going the way you planned, there is still time to turn it around before the weekend gets here. Watching Obamalamadingdongs address from West Point tonight will definitely NOT be one way. I will most likely watch it or DVR it.
