About me:
Welcome to the Myspace page of Sheltered Life. I have created this page to help educate people on animal rescue, and draw attention to a TV Series that I am producing. I encourage you to share this page with as many people you know whom are concerned about humane treatment of animals. While most people have a limited idea of the challenges faced by trying to rescue homeless, neglected, and often injured animals... Those that actively participate in animal rescue day to day know that what the public sees and knows about this is merely the tip of the iceberg.
Without even touching the conditions facing pets that make it into shelters, there is plenty of tragedy in the facts of commonality in the outcome. On average 9.6 million pets will be received into shelters EACH YEAR, and less than half will ever make it out. 55% of all dogs that enter a shelter will be destroyed. The percentage actually favors the puppies, whilst adult dogs reach in the 70% range of destruction. Cats certainly do not face a rosier picture, as 71% of them will be destroyed after being received in a shelter. Ready for the worst of all? Black adult dogs, due to their colors and for reasons coinciding, end up being destroyed over 90% of the time.
