This Jamaican born, Juilliard-trained, entertainer, who studied with legendary Opera singer, Simon Estes, has more to offer than an already impressive five-octave vocal range. Shequida is witty, charming, a linguist, and a skilled dancer. “Shequida has the unique talent of bringing all peoples together.” As Michael Musto of the Village Voice said, “with that voice, Shequida brings together the bourgeoisie and the unwashed masses in bravos.”
After many European tours, Shequida signed a deal with USA Network as their spokesmodel for Latin America and Brazil. Shequida then returned to the USA to play, Wendi Mercury. A recurring character on the ABC daytime drama “One Life To Live.”
Shequida then turned to writing and broke box office records in the GLAAD Media nominated, off-Broadway smash hit, “Opera For Dummies,” which won the Backstage Bistro Award, followed with an equally successful “Popera”
In 2002, Shequida played the title Role in the world premier of Daron Hagen’s Opera. “Vera of Las Vegas” and after that, went off to Berlin to MC and Host, “Witzigmann Pallazo” in 2003.
Currently hosting shows in NYC and traveling all over the world, Shequida remains one of the most uniquely talented, multi-faceted, sought after entertainers today.
