Sherborne Jazz Club has consistently brought the best of contemporary British Jazz to Dorset and Somerset for more than 20 years; Firstly by the tireless efforts of Peter Hailley, founder of the club, followed by several years under the direction of Iain Houston.
Paul Chousmer has taken the 'chair' for bookings since 2006.
Regular club-goers often comment that Sherborne Jazz offers a quality of performance and an ambience second only to Ronnie Scott's ~ a great resource to have here in the southwest
Most of the artists below have performed at the club in recent years, either leading their own bands, or in collaboration.
Autumn 2008 saw the club back at the Plume of Feathers in the centre of Sherborne (opposite the Abbey), where the new landlords Paul and Shirley, have made a great job of transforming the decor and atmosphere of the pub.
Performances are always on a Saturday evening, starting at 7.30pm

"Rippling beats and solid riffs are mixed with Waldmann’s intriguingly differentiating saxes—dreamy tenor; sharp, piercing soprano—and catchy, accessible tunes, delivered with a good degree of wit and guile" (Frederick Bernas)

Great work Paul! Just looking at all all the great photos you've taken over the last couple of years and am reminded what fantastic times we've had ; music we've heard at Sherborne. Really sorry to miss Kate Williams tonight but also happy to be gigging myself! All the best! See you next week.
"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
