Hello, my name is Sherri Holmes. I am a DELIVERED drug addict, alcoholic and everything else that came along with that lifestyle. I have been DELIVERED by the power of the Holy Spirit through salvation and completely surrending MY life to HIS will. I lived my way for over 20 years in pain, agony and insanity. I was a crack addict and I mainlined cocaine. I had Budwieser for breakfast and Crown Royal for dinner. I owned my home, but chose to live out of my car because I WAS INSANE, going from crack house to party to whereever I could use. After two divorces, many suicide attempts(one where I actually died, was revived and was in a coma) and then later the death of my friend from an overdose in my arms, all of which landed me in the psych ward a couple of times. I was finally properly diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which they say I had probably had since a teenager(who knew?)causing all my suicide attempts, self-destructive behavior and to self medicate myself with drugs and alcohol. A common problem I would soon find out among many substance abusers. When I finally started getting the help I needed, God was very clear about what He wanted for my life. I had two choices...life or death. Death was not an option anymore. I had experienced it, not once, but twice and it was not pretty. My friend was not saved when she died, in fact she was one of the most tormented souls I can remember besides myself and my guilt of her death ran deep. I needed healing, I wanted more of God, I needed Him. I found the New Life Christian Recovery Program in Enterprise, Alabama (www.newlifenewbeginning.com) and voluntarily admitted myself.
HERE IS A VIEW OF THE MISSION WERE MY "NEW" LIFE BEGAN:
The healing began there and my calling became clear as I stayed and worked for the Center for over 2 years. I was able to help others find their way to Christ and deliverance from their "hells" they had created for themselves. I wanted to enlighten them about mental health issues in relation to drug use. I have returned to my hometown of Tallahassee, Florida to pursue my AA at TCC and will major in Social work at FSU for my BA. I want to understand my own behaviors and those of others in the fields of addiction recovery/mental health. As a Christian, getting my degree will also help me get my foot in the door and better assist people in these areas. This not of my doing...GOD must get all the praise and glory because I would not be here IF NOT FOR HIM. I am making all A's, have high GPA and I am on the president's list. Praise be to God!
I have been clean and sober for over 6 years and ON FIRE FOR GOD for just as long! He is MY SOURCE OF STRENGTH. I began the 'DARKNESS TO LIGHT CHRISTIAN RECOVERY MINISTRY' as a ministry of love so that I could give back what I had recieved and help others. Click on banner below for more info.

This is just the beginning of my testimony and as Revelation 12:11 says we "are overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and and the word of our testimony." There is so much more to tell and do little time. My ultimate goal is to let God use this and me for His glory, as tool to help someone that needs DELIVERANCE FROM THEIR HELL ON EARTH that will only come through the salvation of Jesus Christ. I am hoping that they will see that they are no different than myself or anyone else that was trapped in or "bound up" by addiction and all the painful consequenses. I can tell you that I have been there, I have look death in the face and there is HOPE and a life without DOPE everyday. A life filled with LOVE, PEACE, JOY AND A PURPOSE. My prayer is that no one else dies from dope with out the love of God and NO ONE DIES WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST IN THEIR HEART. Mark 8:34-38

Forgivness is a hard thing to do, especially when we are hurt and angry. Hate, and Anger eat up at us. We wonder why our lives are not going how we want it to go. Hate and anger make us bitter, and when we become bitter, we find life hard to live. You are not only damaging yourself, but still letting others have power over you. When you forgive, you are not only taking your life back, but setting yourself free. Forgive and give it all to God! Don't allow yourself to become bitter.
