Sherry Finzer is a Performing Pearl Flute Artist and Clinician in Phoenix, AZ (www.sherryfinzer.com). After decades of playing classically, she has branched out into other areas of music, performing and recording flamenco, jazz, world, new age and pop music. In 2006 she released her first solo CD titled "DESERT JOURNEY". This CD is a compilation of songs written by guitarist and composer's Ric Flauding(www.ricflauding.com) and Christopher Caliendo(www.christophercaliendo.com). The genres of these songs include latin themes, world and new age music. Her CD is available for purchase via the Snocap Store or at www.cdbaby.com/cd/sherryfinzer. Sherry has recorded 2 new CD's... Passion and Roses, and Guitarra del Sol, with world-reknowned flamenco guitarist Diego Andres. The CD's are expected to be released in early 2009.Sherry is still recording with dulce VAS with her latin/jazz trio. Their CD, a compilation of spanish, latin, jazz and pop songs, is expected to be ready for release in the spring of 2009.
Sherry performs in the Phoenix/Sedona area with several professional musicians, including guitarists Diego Andres, John Calvert, Jacob Tyler Lucas, and Ric Flauding, with harpists VeeRonna Ragone and Adrienne Bridgewater, and pianist Annie Moscow (Ivory Wind/Christmas Angels), and is available for weddings, corporate parties, concerts, etc. She can put together any type of flute ensemble, from solo flute, flute with piano, harp or guitar, flute duo, trio, quartet or flute choir for your event, and can play any style of music from classical, to pop and jazz. Sherry also teaches private lessons in the Phoenix area, and at Music Maker Workshops in Ahwatukee.
She also performs classical music and has won three national competitions, and was selected from hundreds of entrants to perform with the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir (alto) in August 2007 at the Albuquerque Convention, and in August 2006 at the convention in Pittsburgh, PA. Sherry was also selected to perform in the Newly Published Music concert at the convention in Pittsburgh in 2006 and has won first place in the Arizona Flute Society Competition - Nov 2008, and the Great Southwest Flute Fair Competition - March of 2006 and 2007, where she was also given the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with Michel Debost and Mimi Stillman in Tucson, AZ. She has also won the Rochester Flute Associaton's competition in the 2002 and 2004, and has had the opportunity to play in national masterclasses for Goran Marcusson, Mimi Stillman, Jill Felber, Jim Walker, Flute Force, Brian Luce and more. Her style and influences have been formed from taking a variety of lessons with professionals such as Goran Marcusson, Nestor Torres, Bradley Garner, Christopher Caliendo, Gary Schocker, Glennda Dove-Pellito, Joe Corral, Emily McKay, Claudia Anderson, Jeanie Pierce, Alexander Viazovtsev and Brian Luce.

DESERT FUSION is a flute/harp duo with a new, energetic and eclectic feel for playing pop, latin and jazz tunes. Sherry and Vee Ronna Ragone have put a new twist on these tunes by adding a southwest flair. Desert Fusion performs in the Phoenix area for corporate parties, special events and more. RADIANT SKY is a flute and guitar ensemble, which also features additional musicians performing world, jazz, new age and classical music. Ensembles members include Sherry Finzer, Leslie Lewis (flute), John Calvert (guitar), and Jason Wiedman (percussion). Radiant Sky performs for concerts, private parties and weddings.
TRILLIUM FLUTE TRIO is a unique flute trio formed by Sherry Finzer, Leslie Lewis and Hillary Decker. Trillium's styles range from baroque, to classical and modern music. CAFE - Sherry is one of the founding members of the newly formed flute choir CAFE (Central Arizona Flute Ensemble). This is a larger flute ensemble which plays a wide variety of music, and utilizes all or the flutes in the flute family, including piccolo, C, Eb, Alto, Bass and Contrabass flutes. The ensemble is available for recitals, parties, weddings, etc.
IVORY WIND was formed by pianist/singer/songwriter/composer Annie Moscow and Sherry. The duo performs pop, folk, jazz and classical music and is available in the Phoenix/Tucson/Sedona area for weddings, corporate parties, recitals.
Sherry is the Vice President and Program Chairperson for the Arizona Flute Society, where she helps to bring in guest artists and educational programs for the flute community. www.azflutes.org She is also in the progress of starting an interactive music awareness outreach program in the Phoenix area called the Arizona World Music Initiative.
Hi Sherry long time no see :) it's just not the same here without you guys... I miss our duets! Congratulations on all your success... I really love your cd (Chilean prayer is my favorite, and since you know how I play I'm sure you know why haha)
Let me know the next time you guys are in the area because I would love to get together. I'm going to be going to grad school in the fall in Seneca Falls so unfortunately for me the flute has been put on hold for the time being :( I just know I'll be picking it up again soon after though.. Can't imagine life without it :)
