.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... ______________________________________________________________ ....Sherry-Lynn Lee.. on Facebook.. ______________________________________________________________ .... Life.... .. Sherry-Lynn grew up in the middle of the Indian Ocean, on the tropical island of Mauritius. There, she discovered and nurtured her passion for music through dance, piano, guitar and singing. Despite having no formal training in composition or singing, she always believed in her music. If anyone didn't take her seriously, she would take it as a challenge, a reason to prove them wrong, to move forward. Brick walls are motivation to climb. When people did encourage her, she would see it as a reward for her hard work. Nothing can stop this young and optimistic artist from working to become the best songwriter and performer she can be. Sherry-Lynn is currently specializing in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Toronto, and juggles her time between coursework, songwriting, rehearsing, networking, and performing. She is certainly an optimist who seems to have the "will" to find a "way" to success, both as a musician and as a computer scientist. ...... Influences...... Sherry-Lynn's music has very often been compared to Sarah McLachlan, The Cranberries, Alanis Morissette, and Jewel. However, Sherry-Lynn would rather list arists such as Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, Train, Evanescence, Pink Floyd, Mozart, Linkin Park, Pink, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down and Matchbox 20 as influences instead. ...... Music...... On her recent EP "Change Me As We Go" , each song has quite a different feel and a distinct theme. From the all-acoustic John Mayer type arrangements of the hopeful "Risking More" to the fully produced and angry "While You're Out To Shine"( which sounds like Evanescence merged with Snow Patrol), Sherry-Lynn gives us a glimpse of her diverse music taste. However, despite having several genres featuring on the record, one thing is consistent throughout and makes everything fit together. She keeps it simple and lets the songs speak for themselves. No more instruments than needed. Her words are carefully chosen, and genuine. The melodies are memorable, if not compelling. And the delivery? Humble, honest, and charged with emotion. She doesn't need to rely on production to please the ear. .... Her well-crafted lyrics as well as melodies are especially remarkable on "No Perfect Goodbye" and "The Brighter Side". The latter is barely 2 minutes long and gives rise to an Encore every time she plays it live. The song is simple, memorable, very humble, yet so powerful. Musicians and non-musicians alike call it a favourite. "Perfect World", which was recorded a year earlier than the rest, has also received very good reviews from TAXI and SongDoor International Competition. ...... Reviews...... We LOVED this. You know the melody is a good one when you can't get it out of your head. Excellent job there!! You have a strong grasp on structuring a song properly. It’s really more of a pop song than a rock song … but no matter. You’ve written an excellent example of what a bridge should do: change it up, wake up the listener and make them say “wow, that was cool.” EXCELLENT JOB. -- SongDoor International Songwriting Contest panel 2008 .... "Perfect World" hit the mark with its concise, but memorable melody and clever use of utopian lyric references. The style was Modern Pop in aim and execution. This engaging tune has a solid structural foundation, engaging melody, and fluent vocal that would be suitable for a variety of visual placements. --TAXI A&R .. ______________________________________________________________ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -

Sounds Like
.. Change Me As We Go .. .. The EP was released in Jan 2010. In terms of lyrics, I think main influences are Train, Matchbox 20, Michelle Branch. For the melodies, I'd say Train/Pat Monahan, Evanescence, Michelle Branch, early Avril Lavigne. I left many of the songs acoustic because it felt right to do so. Some others, like tracks 4-6 called for a full band arrangement. Here's an attempt to describe what you may expect.. ..01. No Perfect Goodbye - When life takes away those we love: sounds somewhere between Avril and Amy Lee's ballads but shorter.. ..02.Risking More - A little burst of optimism: Train-ish melodies, with a touch of J. Mayer and Michelle Branch .. ..03. Make My Day - Your happiness fix of the day :).. ..04. While You're Out To Shine - Between letting go and moving on: Evanescence meets Snow Patrol.. ..05. Perfect World - We each have a different vision of a perfect world, so a perfect world can't exist: catchy modern pop song with an awesome bridge.. ..06. The Same Things - A bit of self-esteem: Train meets early Avril.. ..07. The Brighter Side - simple things are the most beautiful ;).... ____________________________________________________________________ .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .... .... .. .. .. .. .. .... .... ..........
