Sheryl Cohen is a Brooklyn based artist whose original music combines Pop, Electronica and Brazilian Styles.
In 2008, Sheryl signed a distribution deal with Izzy Gold Records. She, and legendary Producer Izzy Gold, (Ashlee Simpson, George Clinton, The Ravonettes, etc.), collaborated on a project of original lounge, pop music.
"Electric Eyes" which is the result of this amazing collaboration, was released in March 2009.
Producer and Guitarist Marcos Vigio (Beat and Bow Records) is currently putting the finishing touches on a 5 song EP. Marcos gave Sheryl's original pop songs an electronic, dance edge. "In Between I Daydream", will be released in mid 2009.
Sheryl’s previous CD "Not An Ordinary Girl" was conceived during a trip to Brazil’s Northeast – Salvador da Bahia.
The city of Salvador is the epicenter for many of Brazil’s most progressive and exciting percussion players. The music of "Not An Ordinary Girl", blends the percussive ideas and rhythmic elements, heard throughout Salvador, with Pop elements and English Lyrics.
On Tuesday Nights, you can catch Sheryl performing, as part of the Brooklyn music collective, The Local Correspondents. The collective performs at Bar 4 in Brooklyn.
Sheryl graduated, with honors, from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and is an award-winning composer having received ASCAP’S 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 ASCAPLUS AWARD.
Sheryl is the founder of Copy Cat Music Services, a music transcription and music copying company. Current client list includes: Grammy Winner Angelique Kidjo, Jazz Legend Eliane Elias and Tony Award Winner (Spring Awakening) AnnMarie Milazzo.
